it comes out within the next month or so

my PC can't take it
boooo
Whats the official specs? I cant find them.

(hope i can play it, pree ordered the bugger XD )
Bah, Nuse, what fps are you getting there and in LFS? I want to estimate what i'll have fps wise. I don't care how low my fps go, i will get it no matter what.
at FE i get as low as 45 and up to 120, and normall around 60 or so

the "minimum" specs are as follows:

Operating System : Windows 2000/XP/Vista
CPU : Intel P4 @ 2.4Ghz or AMD Athlon 2800+.
GPU (Video Cards) : ATI Radeon 9800 256MB VRAM or Nvidia 6600 GT with 256 MB of VRAM.
Video Cards with vertex/pixel shaders 2.x and above are recommended.
SPU (Sound Cards) : DirectX 9.0 compatible Sound Card.
System Memory : 512 MB, 1 GB recommended
Hard Disk free space: 8 GB
DVD drive: 8x minimum
DirectX 9.0C

even at everything as low as i can set it (only like 4 graphics options in the dumb game) i can't improve my FPS any at all really, even the menus lag.. its real bad
Can I ease your pain by saying that the game is crap and not worth playing?
I have it on 360 and the concept is great; MMO CarPG with a whole island to play in. Nice variety of cars etc.

The reality is that the car handling is so poor that the game is just not fun.
It tries to be an arcadey sim when it needed to be one or the other.
The game drives a bit like the PGR series, but the environments are not suited to it at all.
Its a brilliant game IMO, car handling is pretty good - and wheel support is very good, full G25 support. Visually its impressive, although the sounds only coming out my left channel in the current build.

I average 35-40FPS ingame with 1280x1024 on High quality with HDR off, AA off and 2x AF. This is on an Athlon 3400 @ 2.4Ghz, Nvidia 7600GT @ 620/1.52ghz, 1GB dual-channel RAM. Pretty steep requirements IMO. It looks great, but the FPS is 1/3 what I get on average in LFS.
Woah woah woah.. there's a demo? Anyone got a link?
No demo, an open beta. Have a look on Fileplanet.com, you need a free account to register for it.

The whole game is there though, which means a 3.5GB download.
I dont mind downloading 3.5 Gigs... my HD is big enough and I'll just leave it downloading while I'm at work

Off to fileplanet I go!
Can anyone get it to work for download? I've tryed in IE, Opera, and Firefox to no avail. I can go thru the Registration, but after I type the code in, It goes to another fileplanet styled page, but just dies with the header then the footer.

I am hoping it's like the original need for speed, no need for realism here just the immersion and nice cars.
I've had it for a few months, just no key to unlock it with.
Few months? Your build won't work then, it'd be one of the closed beta builds.

Sounds like Fileplanet are having issues at the min..
I got the Open Beta & Key yesterday. The game is terrible. At the moment forget using a wheel, as almost any input device make the game run about 5-20 fps. Unplug you wheel and you may get 30-40fps. This is just the worse experience with any game i have ever had the misfortune of trying. All that is in Offline mode. Try the game on their Laggy server & it gets much much worse.

I know its only Beta & you expect afew bugs BUT FFS.

Please ask if you would like me to elaborate on the terrible issues.

I was looking forward to this aswell - doh!

Anyway just an opinion.

8-25fps with wheel, 0-10 more without wheel, but driving with keyboard is so damn difficult.

I think it is quite nice for a arcade game, it has however few big issues, with sounds and performance and few other features I'm not happy with at all, but it is quite ok, very nice those roads too as they are not ultra smooth, but more real so that it is not possible to drive 300kph all time, sure physics are mostly crap, but better than need for speed anyway, driving is nice as long as you don't slide, then you spin.
Bah, I can't get the beta from gayspy, but the 360 demo was fun, just it'd probably be more fun on the PeeCee.
I had the open beta working about a week ago, its great online but now my pc is dead too. Hurrah lol. Anyways didn't see it posted here so anyone planning on buying the full game the release has been moved from the 16th of feb to the 2nd of march which sucks! If it fixes the bugs in the beta then it will be a good game. But still doesn't have the kind of thrills you get when racing in live for speed.

I don't know about performance problems you all are having mine ran perfectly fine with a wheel and good frame rate, however I think I should warn you all as soon as I uninstalled the beta and rebooted I had an error come up saying "C://windows/system32/hal.dll is missing or corrupt" couldnt get round this so had to format. Just a little heads up. May not be the game but it was quite a coincidence.
where did u see the new release date? cuz i have pre-ordered it ^^
