Ok, here's a noob question for all you experts out there...

The F12 pit menu.. after just working out how to move up and down in it, how do I change the values while racing?

I cant seem to figure it out.

left and right arrow keys if i remember correctly

If you cannot use the arrow keys, it is because you have them bound probably for keyboard control. So switchly switch back to Keyboard/Mouse control and unbind the left/right steering keys. Then it will work for you to change values.

or you can try shift+arrow keys

Hmm, have to unbind arrows here. Im driving with wheel and still can`t change them normally.
