FO8 spinning as hell
My mate "Kris K." sent me this replay, and as the car's behaviour wasn't really realistic i decided to post it here...
After hitting a car (Speed ~ 295 kmh car : FO8) that was parking in the middle of the road at the OVAL track,the car flew off the track,crashed in the wall and started to spin...
and well... it didn't stop
Nuff talking... watch the replay

This is a pretty old bug.
had the same happen in a XR in S1, car landed on its nose and spinned all the way down BL straight. (i call it the cyclone move )
Sometimes spinning faster..sometimes slower,but it never stopped untill a new race started.
posted a thread with attached replay in the rsc bug section back then ,but dont think it ever got solved.
This is not just about weird crashphysics at times ..but a car doing iceskating/breakdance spins on its nose for eternity
It looks funny ,but it sure isnt realistic
Lets hope scawen squashes this bug in S2 final once and for all
Wow
I'm not sure where to post this, so I will post it here. I was on oval with F08 and I had a crash at 106mph and the impact was 54.44 G forward and 20.79 right.
And the point is?
Quote from AndroidXP :And the point is?

That surely no car can experience that kind of force. (I carried on) And also it was a massive force considering the slow speed
I'm no physics expert but I think the values are quite ok. Ofcourse IRL the car couldn't drive on after that but:
1) The car simply can't break right now, only suspension bending
2) Body damage is way reduced, especially on the formula cars, to prevent extremely weird results
3) This is S2 alpha... ALPHA... omg

I THOUGHT THIS WAS HERE SO THAT THEY CAN SORT OUT BUGS!? or am I wrong?
But in YOUR post I didn't find any BUG reports. All things you mentioned are intentional, respectively missing features. Not bugs.

It ain't a problem with the cars alone, actually all the objects in LFS might exhibit this sort of behavior because it's how the physics engine has been written, actually the barriers and fences should not withstand impact without deforming, but you know it's a shortage in the features, not an actual bug.

75.2 G's.. sounds about right, maybe not for FV8 (unless you didnt hit wall that hard)
but normal car crashes can be even up to 100 G's.. thats why if in a wreck, people sometimes suffer from bruises and whatnot.. i would figure out the math to figure out how to do G's, but its really early lol

as for the real bug.. looks like fun
apparently when jensen button crashed into a barrier at the chicane after coming out of the tunnel in monaco the G force peaked at 89, i'm assuming you are talking about the peak aswell. he might have been going a bit slower but it was a dead stop and blacked out from it, obviously the safety features work :P
Quick way to calculate G's:

Acceleration (m/s/s)=Change in Velocity(m/s)/Time(s)

G=9.81m/s/s

So, if a car goes from 160mph (71.5m/s) to 20mph in the opposite direction (bounces off) (-8.9m/s) in a collision time of 0.1 seconds:

a=(71.5--8.9)/0.1 = 804m/s/s

804/9.81 = number of G pulled = 81.96G!!!

From this it's easy to see the point of crash scructures and crumple zones. They can't change the 'Change in Velocity' bit, but they CAN change the time that change takes, hence the overall acceleration, and hence the injuries sustained.

Note: This above equation is quite simplified, and is merely provided to give a better understand of G to those that perhaps don't.
