to improve my driving skills i would like to place split times after every turn to figure out which line is the fastes for my setup and driving style.

Is it possible (e.g. with an external program) to set custom Split Timers?

I don't know if it's possible to create custom splits, but I would suggest you use some of the analyser/telemetry programs instead. They provide detailed information (speed, acceleration, car placement, throttle/brake position, steering angle etc) in a similar manner to the telemetry used in real motorsport. This would give you a much more detailed picture of exactly what's going on than checking a split time for a sector (which I believe you can actually do in Analyse for Speed anyway). I thought about the "Shift-U" editor...

Kegetys ghost mod would help you more than custom splits

It shows the path of your best lap in the current combo and a virtual car, so you can see every moment if you're going faster or slower than your best lap.

Well what you could do is creating a custom track with the SHIFT + U editor, wich works on every circuit.
Just make a start position with S, checkpoints with 1, 2 and 3 and a finish line with F.
