So, here's the pictures I promised. It's looking a little sorry for itself at the moment but it's coming along nicely. We're just trying to unseize the engine at the moment and I think we're still awaiting some news on the parts from Jag but I'll know more on that tomorrow.... So..... Enjoy!

If you look at the transmission you'll notices it's still capped and has no serial numbers on it... (probably from the back of a lorry but hush! )

Damn, that's a long way from being complete. Where were all these bits hiding? Looks like they'd been kept outside for a good few years.
YES exactly what bob said, where was the parts kept?
You have a bit of work todo, do you think you can afford to buy body panels and interior parts?
OMG - it's........it's..........it's NAKED!
The thread title was so absurd and unbelievable that I just had to look in. Looks like you have lots of work to do, good luck with it
no offence, but this project is like digging up a couple of rusted pieces of spitfire and trying to mak the plane fly again

good luck though, it won't be easy to find replacement pieces
If you ever drive it, don't crash it, it's quite "twitchy"
Wow, cool blag by you're uni!

It's gonna be a pricey project to complete as an original car, and there must be 100s of parts that you'll never be able to find off the shelf.

my suggestion is to contact TWR or somebody and see if they can supply some drawings, as you'll then be able to re-manufacture the required parts. (Much more satisfying!)

also Motorsport magazine has loads of ads for jaguar specialists and some mention the 220

Good luck!
Yea, I just notices this thread. Looks ver interesting indeed, although quite alot of work is needed.

What course are you doing? And at what Uni?

Thanks,
Matt

I'm doing Motorsport Engineering at Coventry...
We've got facilities to attempt to remanufature the parts, but we'll see what jag comes up with. We've had trouble dismantling the parts we were given, especially the brakes, so I do agree with you borisbarowski to an extent but when you walk into the garage and you've got a xj220 chassis and engine staring at you in the face, you can't help but try

If we did I'd go nuts! Also this thread would disappear quite quickly :P

Just as we was getting to know the xj, look what else turned up...

I will find some, im sure that car is in GT4. looks like a nissan R88 concept
It looks like a Nissan Group C car. It's supposedly in GT4, but I'm watching something on TV at the moment
Looks like its a Nissan R88! With out a rear wing and lights etc
its not an r88, the vents are wrong, the r88 has vents next to the cockpit on the top of the side pods.

Aww, no one got it right.
I can proudly reveal it is a Nissan P35!

One of only 3 chassis, we have chassis number 2. Also it had a V12 3.5 litre engine but Nissan didn't want to give us that. It was a little too precious

There's some images of construction in there and they're of the actual vehicle we now have
Do you want to make it run again? Looks like engineers heaven
I'm sorry to dig out this quite old thread but I'm too curious to know how your progress with the XJ220 and the Nissan is going on.

This project is too interesting to get forgotten!
