Like most things in life- LFS takes practice. 1 month is hardly long enough to expect anything good. Don't worry about it
Teams work in 3 ways
1) You post in the teams section your looking for a team and say what car/track combinations you like. Basically saying why you think a team should pick you.
2) A team who is looking for members post's in the team sections and you can apply. Usually then you will go on track with the team leader to see how you drive etc.
3) If your really good you could get approached and asked by a team if you want to join.

If you have only been playing a month though it maybe too soon to think about joining a team. Also if you do try for a team dont hold out much hope of getting into top teams just yet as alot of have requirements such as XXXXXX miles driven etc, which you wont have achieved in a month.

Leagues
Look int he elagues section of the forum and find a league that you like but some leagues require a team entry so individuals can't enter them. If you fine a league that lets individuals in that you want to enter, you may be able to join mid season, or you may have to wait till the season opens. All you need to to do is apply to the league when it opens and then get practising for alot of racing.
