Controller lag since patch V - corelation to .cvw view files
Since patch V, I sometimes get some controller lag, similar to what analog smoothing feels like.
"Sometimes" because I haven't pinpointed exactly what causes it, so I also can't give details on how to reproduce it.
I've played with all the settings in the controls options, so it isn't from there AFAICT, and anyway it starts spontaneously, out on the track.

I do know for sure that deleting the car's .cvw file fixes it.. till it happens again.
I recently noticed it happen when I hadn't even made a custom view, or even gone from cockpit to custom view (default view is cockpit). I then made a custom view, deleted the .cvw, pitted in and out, and it was normal again.

Both the steering, and view yaw (both are axes on my controller) have this slight lag that's negligible for the latter, and makes me zigzag trying to compensate for the delay in steering.

I've had this problem on two different computers so far, both on version V.

???
Cant you try to explain the problem a bit more detailed?

Does it show up randomly, or after those .cvw files are created again? Might the issue be related to the wheel / driver / directx / os?

Have you tried disabling replay recording, or driven only offline, or disabled any kind of background processes like antivirus software?
It does seem random, but that's just a guess.. There has to be some cause for it, but I haven't found it yet.
Yes it does reccur after I delete the cvw file.
Yes it 'might' be anything, because I just don't see any corelation to anything else than deleting those .cvw's
And no, I honestly can't describe it any more precisely than that..
There is some lag in the controller input. At first I thought it was just the steering, but I checked my camera-yaw axis, and it has the same small delay.
The closest analogy I know is the smoothing that games add to inputs, to correct spikes.. that's what it feels like.

e.g. : I'll be driving through the blackwood T2 chicane, which requires you to precisely time the right-left steering, and there is no doubt then, when this "bug" is happening, that there is some lag: it's like the steering shaft is semi-elastic.

I wouldn't have mentionned it without more info, as I did think it was the controller starting to die or something, but as I said, deleting (or creating and deleting) the car's .cvw file will fix it everytime.
And someone online mentionned they had the same problem, and since patch V as well.

I'll report back with some more info as suggested..
I take it you have analog smoothing set to 0? Also, this is a long shot but try running the game in windowed mode instead of fullscreen, or a lower resolution. I had that problem on my old computer (well...more of a box with some LEDs really). If that dont seem to work, check in control panel see if it lags in there. If it doesnt, run LFS, go onto track and minimize (without pause) then go into control panel and see if it lags. It might be that LFS takes up too much CPU power which means less power to interpret inputs?

I had similar problems with various different drivers on various different gamepads. At a guess I would say it is the driver that you are using causing a temporary hardware arguement thus making you lag(which I have also seen happen).
it is hardware lag from a poor driver> update your driver.

Q: You mentioned camera yaw axis, do you use one of the axis to control movement of camera whilst driving?

Also post your settings:
I just got it again, mid-race, hands on the wheel, not even changing any parameters like brake bias or anything.
Deleting the car's cvw fixed it.

I also got it when the server I was on changed tracks, which matches Jonas' report.
Deleting the cvw worked then, too.

Hughie, that was one of my first hunches, but alas I can easily alt-tab to do the cvw-delete routine with no slow downs.. With enough practice I've become fast enough at it to alt-tab out and back in to delete the cvw all in the 'race restart' countdown's length of time.
If there is any slowdown from CPU crowding, it's definitely not as large a lag as the delay this 'bug' makes.
Yes analog smooth is off.
It hasn't happened in windowed mode yet, but I haven't spent much time in it.

CSU, I would agree except (correct me if I'm wrong) deleting the cvw has nothing to do with drivers.. and this has never happened before patch V.
Yes, I have the camera's yaw axis set to an analog joystick, and steering on another.
I'll try and see if the gas/brake pedals are influenced too.

I don't know what settings you mean, but here's what I found:

Breizh is a big dummy.
Alt-tabbing is enough.
CVWs have nothing to do with it, apparently. The bug still happens and it's a real hinderance to safe racing on the edge.
