i recently got a new pc with vista instaled. when i try to download it again it downloads and extracts but setup wizard doesnt run . i cant even run the game by going to computer/program files/lfs. please let me know how to fix this. i have an s2 license and need to get the game working.

Jakq - and you sometimes wonder about the quality of your posts? Here is somewhere you could have been more helpful.

blackstrat - installation of LFS is easy once you realise there is no installer. The latest version comes in a self extracting 7zip format. Once you've picked somewhere to install it, you then just need to browse to that folder and double click LFS.exe. For convenience you can make yourself a shortcut to the executable file in your start menu (or similar).

i dont have a lfs.exe folder even if i search from start menu. also when i look at the folders ther used to be a lfs icon. there isnt anymore they are just folder icons. any input is appreciated.

That's because you don't have to install LFS. You just unpack the zip and run it (the lfs.exe) Lfs.exe is not a folder, it's the actual program so to speak.
You can make a shortcut of the LFS.exe which is there where you unpacked it, and then move it to your startmenu.

im getting a 7zip diagnostic message saying cannot open output file of lfs.exe, lfs_restart.exe and online lfs manual.url. what is this

I think your trying to run lfs.exe from the zip file. You need to extract all the files to a folder and then run lfs.exe from there.

i do not have the lfs.exe file. all i have is the data folder and its contents, the docs folder, config, readme file.any clue whats going on.

Have you tried another download, from a different mirror? Perhaps the one you pulled down was "broken".

You need to extract LFS again if you are missing files. If you are getting corrupt file errors with every download mirror you try, you may have either malware or even bad RAM.

If it works under XP, why can't you just run the XP install?

Did u search under incompatible files?

When u go to C/program files, there should be a button showing incompatible files. I had LFS here when i dowloaded/installed but could not find it.

Blackstrat, did you manage to get this working on vista? I am having the same problem when extracting.
