It would be nice to have the F1 cars truly sound like F1 cars.

its pretty crazy that there have been no other threads about improving the sounds of cars. maybe the devs will notice this

well +1, the car is a real car, which means it should sound like the real thing. the other cars are pretty much fantasy, so they can have custon and original sounds.

the BF1 sounds like a hoover atm.

Try out DaveWS' soundpack or Phill's BF1 sounds. They sound heaps better than the original sound. Please note that the new current sound engine is brand new and still under development, so it will get better. But the F1 is probably the hardest car to get right because of it's very distinctive sound.
In any case try out some custom sounds, they improve the other cars a lot as well.

Just to clarify something, as you seem to be slightly mistaken, LFS has one F1 car, the BF1 (BMW Sauber). The Formula V8 is akin to an F3000 car.
