Memory stick unlock
Put this question here it is a newbie question really. I am at university but i also live at home at home so i can play lfs at home. But because of uni internet firewall/port restrictions cant play lfs online at uni lol. So usually just mess around on demo but i want tweak but it needs unlocking - so is there anyway to unlock lfsand transport it? If i unlock in on a usb memory stick will it stay unlocked or will it lock everytime i take it out of the pc?
Thanks.
i guess as you are using other hardware and other software, lfs should go back to demo.
If both machines have identical hardware then yes, I would imagine it would work, if not I doubt it would, LFS is hardware locked
Will be completely different machines there goes that plan lol

You can use some mobile phones as a dial up connection, which would get around the port blocking business. One I know that works is the V3 Razr, so most Motorolas probably work. Surely someone you know must have one if you haven't
Computers were barely more than glorified calculators when I was in college. We only had computer labs where there was 4 or 5 computers setup for us to use. Does universities now issue individual computers to all students? Meaning is it your computer or the schools?

Take it home with you to unlock it. You don't need everything if you have a PC at home, only need the PC itself. That's not much to carry. If it's a laptop, that makes it even easier. If it is issued from the school, maybe you aren't allowed to take it home with you?

Such a simple solution. PC's aren't that big of an appliance
Oh no nothing like that mr rodgers lol
I have my PC at home which is mine, the PC's at uni are just computer which you log onto to do work but not a fan of work so just play games lol. So i wondered if it was possible to unlock on a memory stick at home, bring the memory stick into my university, plug it into a PC here and play the unlocked version
Nope, not a chance.
Are you really sure bob.........??

I suppose you only really need the primary disk, you could fit that in your coat pocket.

Unless you have evidence otherwise, from my understanding of the unlocking system it will detect being run on different hardware and lock itself.

thisnameistaken - the hard drives aren't included in the hardware check, neither is the OS for that matter. I change both frequently enough and it's never caused me to need to unlock again. Swapping motherboards is another matter, tried that too.
I guess the TWK bit is a lost cause and for S2 stuff you would need an alternative means.
I have an idea as to how you might get away with it but ill keep it to myself, It would also be a bit of a pig but once coded into perhaps a small program it should be pretty easy
