G25 recognized as DFP
A very odd thing is happening - three things, actually:

1.
When opening Logitech Profiler, it some times recognizes the wheel as a DFP (untill the next succesfull reboot - read pt. 3) - LFS further confirms this as it can't detect the clutch pedal.

2.
Seems like every time I boot, my computer finds new hardware: G25 and DFP - in random order.

Even though it finds the DFP, in whatever order, It doesn't mean the wheel isn't being recognized properly.

currently, my wheel is working and I can't see any clue of DFP in Device Manager - but when the wheel doesn't work (when it's recognized as a DFP), I see the DFP in Device Manager.

3.
This happens randomly too: it seems that since I got the new wheel, my computer hangs during boot - when Windows XP logo at the blue horizontal scroll bar is running, and it's then supposed to switch to a black screen, my computer just hangs with the logo and a stopped bar - no activity on harddrives either.

Isn't the wheel supposed to calibrate when the XP logo changes to a black screen? It sometimes doesn't.

This is what I did when I first installed it:

1. attached all cables - except USB
2. Installed software from CD that came with it
3. Plugged in the wheel when asked to do so
4. Voila! Was able to play

Then after a single or more reboots it stopped working and instead got recognized as DFP.

5. Uninstalled Logitech Profiler
6. Removed everything related to the wheel from Device Manager
7. Downloaded latest software
8. Repeated step 1-3, and it worked again.

Then... after some reboots it stopped working again :|

This time around I did this:
1. Uninstalled the software
2. Removed from Device Manager
3. DIDN'T thouch the USB
4. Reinstalled software

..and its working.. did this 2 reboots ago and its wtill working fine so far, but.. windows keeps finding new hardware (installs it by itself), including DFP :| And it still hangs during boot at random times.

Any suggestions or clues?
Thought i would come spam u lol

If your g25 is plugged in and turned on it will calibrate while windows is booting up donig all the scan disk stuff (or whatevers it is called my monitors never warmed up before it goes lol)

Seems very strange though as when i first had my g25 i had both the g25 and dfp plugged in no problem recognising them seperatly, then removed dfp and g25 has been a g25 ever since. I dont suppose there is any updated drivers yet and i suppose you have checked.

I watch with interest though to see what is going on.

If all else fails try logitech forums, they are helpful.

Off topic - yes r4ptor i posted on there too

I didn't pay attention to it, because back then I didn't realise I was having a problem, but I think it might have had done just that... or at least while the XP logo goes to black screen... will pay more attention in the future.

Lol.. man, there no cure for you!
Rrrrrrrright... I just love random stuff.

Just did to reboots.

While I rebooted first time, I went away (bathroom visit , but when I returned, the wheel was perfectly aligned = had calibrated while Windows was waiting for me to log on - seems that boot went well.

Shut the computer completely down and turned off the power supply.. waited a bit and then did another boot.

Everything in order this time as well.

One thing I forgot to mention in my first post:
I looked at the leds during a boot, and noticed that after the screen had turned black, the power led was blinking - it kept blinking until Windows foound and installed new software.

This time around there were no blinking, and no "new hardware" bubbles at all.

so what have I done differently? Installed with the USB connected, while the instructions says it should be disconnected prior to the software install... meh.

I'm off to bed - will see tomorrow if it holds or what .. one thing is sure.. I dislike stuff randomly fixing them selfs more than random problems :|
