Nice drawing R3DMAN, hope to see it finished.

Nice shine/shadow on the bodywork.I'd recommend to use a better paper and more saturated pencils.(use darker shadows maybe)But in the other hand, the texture created by the paper and pencils look good to me.
And, is the top of the car too "sharp"?
It's lookin quite nice Better than I can do (and I'm an aspiring car designer )
that's a really nice f1 you've drawn there.

my turn

Nah, you never got this classic to States, It is Volvo 300 series, same model series as featuring in my IRL and virtual videos on youtube

Vulva is just friendly name of Volvo

haha, thanks

Quote from JTbo :Is that drawing or render?

its a drawing. and it took a very long time as i was spending a lot of time on the shadows on the body panels.
that is very nice, i'm currently drawing a side view of an lmp1 out my head. but i am no good at drawing cars from an angle, my plan is to draw it front and back then trace it on coral draw then try and render it with RAVE, wont be a proper render but close enough 8-)

That's really what I have to do too I can't seem to get a decent looking LMP or GTP from the side though, only more street-oriented vehicles; which sucks because LMP and GTP cars are so much cooler! :P

I might put a couple of my sketches up in here if anyone wants to see them. I just did a quick 5-minute replacement for the Gallardo. (well, maybe not replacement, maybe evolution?) Anywho... back to the sketchbook. I need some decent drawings for my portfolio! :P

Are there any tutorials for drawing a car from an angle?

I can never get the hood>windshield>roof lines right.

I have not found any, but then again have not looked much. One trick I have started using is to put liner to paper and just keep it there pointing to perspective near where you draw, helps to keep lines in same direction, imo.

Quote from ajp71 :Did you make that mod? If so I guess it has a decent tire model and could be fun to drive

Yes I did, in 12 hours, nobody has beaten that yet, also best rating per megabyte ratio has not still exceeded, LOL

No, tires are shite, ISI tires with more grip, but next version will have proper tire model + few other things that I could not do in 12 hours, just doing it rather slowly when have bit of nothing to do time and so.

There is some story and links:

There is pages for it:

Plans are to make few more models and it is not planned to be anything too serious, people take sometimes all mods so serious, better to have sometimes something just for fun

Use help-geometry. A car should e.g. stand in a very lightly drawn box, so you see a 3 dimensional space instead of a 2 dimensional piece of paper. Draw some simple geometry around the object you want to draw to remind your brain of the angle you are drawing the object at. For complete pictures with scenery you can also start off outlining the background and simple objects to define the viewpoint before you tackle the more complex geometry.

Yep I think drawing a box is the best option at least thats what my artistic cousin told me. :] Well here are some of his works, maybe not cars but pretty cool too.

I have a hard time translating more curvacious and volumptuous shapes to the 'box perspective' theory. I can draw a box in perspective, but I can't draw a more complex curvy shape in perspective very well, like a 1958 Ferrari Testarossa for example. (mmm... I love that thing!)

If you have a hard time imagining projected complex geometry start out layer-wise.
First the box, then the geometry you will propably get right, then easy approximizations of the complex geometry. They're propapably wrong, so draw the better version of them right over the old lines. Do that until you are happy with the result and then take the pen you want to draw the result in and follow the lines you liked.
All pictures are created in steps. No one has a 3d-renderer in his head and a plotter for a hand. Don't be afraid to draw the wrong lines, as long as you draw them in such a way that they aren't noticable on the finished image.
The better you get the closer your first lines will get to a good shape.

Also, when you begin something you will propably fail at, start out with small versions of the object and increase the size until you reach what you wanted. Small objects don't need much detail and you allow yourself to concentrate on those lines that are important. Step by step you increase the number of details. That makes the process of imagining all that detailed geometry with it's shadows and reflections easier.

* That's just the strategy I use. I don't claim that it's any good.

I like it, good job Redman =) I am not that up on drawing but it looks sexy from here =)
