The question is, why did you have a file called "LFS S2S KeyGen.exe"

wondering the same! iirc there was a n00b in my msn who send it but im not sure!

Hopefully this will serve as a warning to any other users of the same file

well they probably deserve it....
ROFL.

A crack that has a virus? I for one am shocked. What is the underworld coming to?

yep, its hard these days to get unclean files

and btw, most worms just do the simple things like keylogging so i think an overall pw change will be fine, dont think there has been any further harm.
Thats probably just picked up as a virus because Norton thinks that what it does is screw with your comp. But if the file is true to its tittle then it's just a crack, and Norton just reads it as a harmful file.

N00b send it trough MSN eh?

That was good one, blame the n00b
I think this is the best way on how to deal with all crackers :P send em a crack with a virus that melts their pc!

Honest sir, a friend sent it to me

Let it be a lesson to ALL those demo user's who use a crack, you WILL leave yourselfs wideopen to allsorts of virus's and worm's
And flaming bananas!

i personally think the devs should make a crack that does exactly that - i've heard that some "Other" software companies do it

so,you think im using a crack on S2?
Quote from EmilO :so,you think im using a crack on S2?

Well, you obviously have a license, but it is a FACT you have an LFS keygen on your PC, these files don't just appear on your PC do they, even if someone sends you the file through MSN you still have to accept the transfer
dont turn this in a flamewar...maybe it was a wrong download and he didnt notice it, or it was included in an package what he downloaded...whatever there are a lot of possible reasons.
as we know hes S2 licensed so theres no reason why he would want to download that.
Firstly, dump Norton, it's a P.O.S., get a decent AV program, like NOD32, that will get rid of any virus you may have, and be carefull what you download in the future.

gg NOD32, best AV I've used. But an LFS keygen? Doesn't make sense since LFS doesn't use keys, I would've thought it be a cracked executable.

Unless he has downloaded it for a friend Ah ok, maybe I believe him, odd things can happen

Anyhow, I put here what I say / write anyone I hear using illegal methods to gain access to locked content, just to be sure :
Quote : Why buy?
To support developers and give money to them so they can continue to make outstanding products and give something to you, entertainment.

Did you know that LFS is developed by 3 people, they sell it directly and price is very cheap, also you can contact them personally and get very good support.

From 2002 I have enjoyed from LFS, I did pay £36 to them even it was not sure that there would be S2, because already I had so much value from product and now 5 years later I can see 5 more years of value from it, calculate cost per year, not much.

Piracy is crime and very wrong thing to do, even more so with these real software products that will out stand any product made by big company in features and quality.

They really have earned that money.

But really you should not steal from big corporations either, that is so lame and selfish, very very wrong and bad thing to do.

I'm really not rich, I have had no money to fuel for long time, but still I have bought my licenses, 3ds max being ultimately expensive one even I got it with great discount, but it was still four number figure.

Don't you ever do such things like stealing

Oh yes, Avast FTW!
I recall hearing some time last year that an LFS crack or a potential one had a virus attached, it was before the time of patch V.

It's very common that keygens and cracks for programs are distrubuted my software makers themselves with virus's and worm's in them.

It's suprising how many people use cracks and keygens that don't have any AV software installed
Quote :Doesn't make sense since LFS doesn't use keys, I would've thought it be a cracked executable

It's probably from a very popular cracks site which has virus-infested downloads named *program*KeyGen.exe on the search results page when you search for *program*.

IMO, that is first just as illegal as stealing from the company using a crack. It's just like wreckers on the server. If you wreck someone back in retaliation, you are no better than the wrecker who you became victim of to begin with. If a software company resorts to virus's in retaliation to the cracking, then they are no different than the ones creating/downloading and stealing with the crack.
btw: when was S2 patch S out...? :P
