My Goal
Well Guys, I consider myself to be a good LFS racer. I play defensively, but sometime push things and get a little sketchy on a few corners. I mainly drift and rally race. Ever sense I became a good drifter my rally skills have gotten better. With XRT I hit low 1:11's on BL Rally, and low 9's on reversed. I really want to work on my Blackwood GP skills. I finally got around to taking a good look at it (Way back in the day I raced GP with the XRG, before I could handle the XRT) and I was average. But Now I got a good setup (Inferno) And Ran two laps online. pulled a 1:29 second lap. I noticed the back was a little sloppy so I lowered tyre pressure a TAD, and softened up the real anti-roll bar. So hopefully that will keep things a little more stable. I want to get under 1:25, that is the goal I have set. I have attached the two lap replay if you guys want to look over it and correct my lines, but I personally think all I need to do is smooth things out. Thanks in advance.

-Try to stay out of 2nd gear except for the very first corner. In the faster turns it'll mess up your exit, especially if you change gears mid-corner. If you're using auto gear-change, switch to manual and turn off "throttle cut on upshift" in the player options. It may require a bit more attention cause it might produce a little wheel-spin during upshifts, but helps the turbo cars to stay on boost. Probably worth like 2 mph on the straights.

-Slow in, fast out. Brake early, turn in late, don't get the car sideways in the corner and try to be early on throttle. Braking early and entering a bit slower will only cost a few hundredths of a second, but a clean and fast exit can be worth half a second because the extra speed helps you on the straight that follows.
-Yea, I thought some of my loose ends were due to RPM's being too high, so I'll try comming out of corners in third next time. I do run manual, with auto clutch. I DO have cut on upshift turn on, I like it for the realism, and hate hearing the RPM's jump when shifting, but I guess I could change it.

-I'm starting to work on the slow in, fast out thing. But I'm still learning my braking points.

Thanks for the help And when I get a chance I'll practice those tips and post another replay.

Turn off the "throttle cut..." anyways. If you like the realism, then lift your foot! That is realism, not the "throttle cut" option. It only takes a slight moment of lift with your foot to shift, rather than the huge cut the option does.
Meh, I switched it off and I'm living with it. I just finished two 5 lap races at BL GP online. it was 1:36 first lap, 1:28's for the rest of the laps. I can't seem to improve.

Its not two 5 lap races that will make you fast, believe me. Keep practicing

Forget the inferno set, it's way too oversteery for a beginner on the XRT especially a mouser. It doesn;t help your using the mouse because its hard to get on the throttle smoothly, you sorta have to tap it a few times before you can mash it down.

I've attached a replay of me driving using the mouse and the set I used when I was a demo racer using the mouse. I don't remember my PB but I just did a few laps and got a low 1.27 easily, so 1.25 shouldn't be a problem. It's a very stable and easy to drive set, and also doesn't lock up when you brake with the mouse.

Check the replay and you'll see what I mean by the throttle control required, you should shave a couple of seconds off in no time.

I've done a few tweaks to the Inferno set and killed the lockup after the straight. I also have it so its not too loose, but the back end still likes to kick out when the tires arn't quite at or slightly over optimal tempuratures. I'll take a look at that replay, and try the set and get back to you with a replay of my own. Thanks again,
