TDU will be out on PS2, but the physics are being re-coded to something more arcadey AFAIK as it's being converted to PS2/PSP by someone different.
Grand Prix Legends? Got it, it's great.
Grr... Why is LFS the only game with linear 720deg steering? If I play a game with road cars, I expect the in-game wheel to turn 720 or 900 degrees! If a game is simulating a car that has 270deg IRL, then 270 in game is fine, but to give ROAD cars 180-270 degrees in game takes the piss when the DFP can go up to 900deg.
In rTractor I have in-game steering wheel that turns 1728 degrees, same as car that it is trying to simulate. 720 is ridiculous low for many cars really, 900 is ok for some new sporty cars, but most road cars seem to have much more.
I hate it that there is no wheel that could do that 5 turns from lock to lock, that could be used almost any car.
To answer your question, 900 degrees is so new that evolution has not yet gone enough forward to get everything adjusted for that and specially as there still are more wheels without 900 degrees possibility it takes time
My car IRL (Mk5 Fiesta Zetec) has 3 turns (1 and a half each way) which is great. However, I've driven a Suzuki Wagon R and a Peugeot 206 and both have what seems like far more, which is unnecessary IMO. It just becomes cumbersome and difficult.
I couldn't really drive with any more degrees now, I passed my test in a 206 with about 4 and a half turns push-pulling it and that was just hard work and didn't feel necessary.
I think the best game I played that had the best physics model is Rigs of Rods. LFS is only a footstep behind RoR. Rigs of Rods is basically a suspension example. (It's like Pontifex on wheels!)
about using a wheel with TDU, i used a wheel for a while, set to 450 deg, but i just gave up and used an x360 controller. suits it really well, considering thats what the game is made for.
Yep, already got the demo. Its pretty fun. Download the rFactor demo while i was at it, and really didnt like it. GTR2 looks pretty fun, but i dont know if i wanna buy it, since the wheel rotation is only 90 degrees, and it wont let me try out the other modes, such as the "School", or "online", like LFS let me.
This makes me wanna slap people who say the demo for LFS isnt enough. Youd have to be out of your mind. It lets you try it out FF car, a FR car, and a boosted car. Lets you try a full track, with all the avaliable configurations for it, lets you do the "training mode", and lets you play online AS MUCH AS YOU WANT. Demo isnt timed either. So stop your bitchin
GTR2 is like badly made mod for rFactor that has not usable rain(because it is too hard for most guys hardware).
Physics engine is same. From player.ini you can change steering wheel rotations to match your wheel in rFactor, maybe works in GTR2 also if they are not protected that file also.
What I did check out GTR2 physics those were like made from hat without even much trying to get them real.
Yet it comes with software that is made by known spyware involved corporation that downloads ads to game. Google and RSC reveals more of this if interested.
R.F.X mod for rFactor should contain tracks and cars from GTR2 I have heard, don't know if that is very legal anyway, but some guys are still working on that
Those are different than LFS for sure and not as realistic at all, but if you are not after the most realism rFactor offers more for $ value as you can download content, most are crap just like GTR2 pretty images cool sounds but physics (actually should say files that define cars) not so good.
Rumours are that in 1 or 2 years there will be rFactor 2, where hopefully ISI has finally ditched their current tire model and created new one or at least fixed current one, but we have come to this far with model that is built certain point of view in mind, so really don't know if there will be any change.
