IE Doesn't display a Page
Hi All,

Have a weird problem here. I have a laptop, with IE7, been running OK. Then yesterday, it doesn't display any internet page. It connects to the network OK, and can load Email, and various company programes no problem. I have run HIJackThis, I have cleared the cache, temp files, and reset IE back to defaults, still the same.

Now here is the weird part. I installed Firefox, and that works no problems. Display's everything.

Where do I start with this one?

There is nothing loading at the startup that shouldn't load.

Thanks in Advance

Fordie

Can you get the IE installer from MS Site and reinstall it ?

But if Firefox works, why bother
i had a similar problem with IE7, when ever i installed it onto a machine that had firefox, it wouldn't work at all, it kept crashing, do you have firefox installed neway?

and another issue i noticed is its pretty much impossible to go back to IE6
Quote from Stuart Fleming :and another issue i noticed is its pretty much impossible to go back to IE6

And I thought that great big "remove IE7 from my machine kthnxplz" in the control panel might actually work! Oh wait...

Fordie - I'm assuming the obvious (that it's attached to a Windows domain) - any offline files need sync'ing? That usually takes down Outlook as well though... Nothing obvious like proxy settings been removed? If you do have a proxy, try proxycfg -d, proxycfg -u in a command prompt.
Thats a hard one to diagnose without sitting in front of the computer, but like danowat said, its probably IE7 being crap.
For those of you who would like to go back to IE6, this page should help -

http://browsers.evolt.org/?ie/32bit/standalone

standalone versions, needs no installing, very useful for web developers
Ive moved to Opera myself, Firefox started crashing on me.
