It would be great to be able to capture speed and position - say at the entry to a corner - and be able to try a section over and over.
There are a few turns that vex me and (I know this is lazy) I hate to do a whole lap to try them again. Especially on the longer layouts.
This strikes me as the sort of thing a clever modder could do.
It's something I've wanted ever since I raced the 'ring in GPL!
Just a thought for a lazy Saturday.
good idea im always messing up the chichane on aston club
i agree, especially for like replay analyzing and whatnot, thats what i really need to improve is to be able to figure out how to do my turns.. so
+1!

You're never going to be able to get into a rythm just doing a corner at a time. Using the shortest config with said corner is the best option.

This would help a lot, totally unrealistic but it would great for hotlapping.
I'd love to see someone practise every corner to the point of perfection using that system offline and then crumble to pieces during actual racing when they can't use the optimal corner entry due to other cars and constantly changing situation.

I'm not sure ajp...GTR - or whatever they call it- hands the car to you mid corner and it's pretty easy to take control...it would make sense to give your self a couple seconds prior to the section...and that's the important bit, the section, not just the corner.

(Davo-Your icon most distracting and wonderful thing I have ever seen)

What's the problem of making a layout for that?

thats why LFS would then start you a few turns ahead or whatever, to where you can get to optimum speed, and start you off with optimum tire temps

What do mean? Why don't I code it myself? Alas, I don't have the skills(z).
What he means it you can make an autocross layout and put the start position anywhere you want, unfortunately, you start standing still, so it's not quite the same.

start lfs go on the track press shift+u and put the start somewhere suitable for practicing that particular corner

edit: damn you ryan
Well, you could always just give the start position a fair distance from the sectionin question, to get a running start I guess.

(btw, good racing last night nuse, really close most of the time)
A respectable number of the difficult corners likely to get use from this sort of training aren't reproducible on the autocross surface.
And it just isn't the same to train with cones as with the real corner.

There's no better training for racing other people than racing other people, but it does eliminate everything else and stack the odds that much more on your side.

Don't need to be on autocross to make a layout!
Is the autocross function really such a mystery?
Android, you mean we can set an entry point while editing any LFS track with the layout editor, and restart from that point any time with shift-r?
Yes, that's what he means. You just have to insert a "Start Line" object wherever you want to and the track starts from this point then.

The autocross editor works on ALL tracks.
Well I guess that's one item off the wishlist
Great! Thanks guys.
