Total Lunar Eclipse Tonight
Total Lunar Eclipse on the night of the 3rd.

Partial phase begins at 21h 39m and ends 01h 12m with totality at 22h 44m to 23h 58m. All times are GMT.

Totality will last for an hour.

A lunar eclipse happens when the Moon phases into the cone of shadow cast by the Earth. Its supply of direct sunlight is cut off and the moon becomes dim until it emerges from the shadow. even at mid totality it does not vanish completely, because the sunlight is bent on to its surface by the Earth's atmosphere. The eclipse could be dark or bright it depends on the air.

Yeah ... just watching it out of my window!

Bob is watching too!
Did Gabe Newell found more double cheese burgers?

I cant because it's day here every thing like this only happens at europe xD
well, i was just gona go out and get a better pic of it with my other camera (7.4megapixels / the one i used there was 3 megapixels) and it appears to have gone all cloudy
I've been looking at it for like 2 hours, since i can see it from my computer. It's pretty cool to watch it emerge. Problem is it's halfway emerged, and i need something to delay me from my homework for longer.

Hmm, isn't that actually your homework?
Completely forgot about it until I saw this post. I was wanting to take the kids out to see it, but forgot. The 6 yr old is coming down with something anyways, so don't really want to take her out in the cold.

It's pretty cloudy here anyways. Probably wouldn't have been able to see anything.
Watching it with my 9 year old daughter last night, managed to get a few piccies, the "full" eclipse ones are hard to capture due to lack of light, but I think I didn't do too bad a job with the equipment I have

Wondered why the moon was red
Quote from ajp71 :Wondered why the moon was red

The Moon does not completely disappear as it passes through the umbra because of the refraction of sunlight by the Earth's atmosphere into the shadow cone. The amount of refracted light depends on the amount of clouds or dust in the atmosphere, and this light causes the Moon to glow with a coppery-red hue that varies from one eclipse to the next.

Hope that helped
