ok, i dont really want to spend 100's on a new system, i have just bought a AMD Athlon 64 4000+ (939) for £70 and i have a 6800GT g/c and its just starting to see a slowdown with games like ArmA.

so my question is, can i get a better g/c for £100 than i already have?

yes, you can, this is better, but out of stock, you could also get a 7600GS (although that might not be any better)

imo, sell your mobo and graphics card and go PCI-e

The 7600GT isn't that much better than the 6800GT to upgrade to this card. The 7600GT is almost as good as an 6800 Ultra and not in all cases.

The 7600GS is even lower the one you already have imo due to the 128bit bus.

If you had an 6600GT the the 7600GT upgrade would be awesome but from the 6800GT a good core better the one you already have is the ATI X1950.

alot of my friend have bought the 7600GS, (it's basically a 7600GT pci-e tweeked for agp) combined with over 1gb of ram and this baby rocks. this info is comming from people who use it on an everyday basis.
(currently 3 ATC's have one and i think i might get one too but in pci-e form)

imo, stay with the 6800gt. It will be better in games with high res. or aa and af. The 256bit memory make a hugh difference. The 7600gt will probably get better fps without aa and af, but when you turn on the eye candy, it will quickly fall behind. you could go with the 7900 gs, best bang for the buck, and will make an agp system half decent. I had a 3400+ and x800xl, and went to 7600gt and was disappointed by its lack of eye-candy power. If at all possible, save up and get a new mobo with pci-e, then get an 8600gt whe they come out. Gives ya a couple of months to save, and some real power for lfs!
