Autoclutch or manual?
Will I go faster using manual cluth (with some practice,of course), instead of auto?
yes
The fact is you can do much more things using manual. Into drifting, how would you do a shift lock or a clutch kick with a manual clutch? ANyway it's more than necessary in drifting and it will sure aftect your times in racing
Manual clutch in LFS is a bit of a two-edged sword. It will get you into difficult situations more often than auto, but it will also get you out of difficult situations more often than auto.

I'd say on balance neither is quicker than the other. And to be honest with the clutch implementation in LFS it's not that fab to play with either.
Well,I've heard two different opinions, so it is still a question for me.
It will make you faster on circuits with few corners, and slower on technical circuits.

I suppose it could also make you faster in cars with a turbo on some circuits where you can keep turbo pressure up with full throttle but use the clutch to determine how much power you're actually using, but in practice I've never done this myself.

It's nice to be able to disengage drive if things go a bit screwy, and it's nice to be able to shift a bit faster than auto-clutch users, but it's also harder to brake with your right foot and manually blip the throttle, and you need good timing when coming off the brake and back onto the throttle so you don't upset the car too much.

That's about all there is to it.

Faster. Much faster. You will be able to use compression braking (shifting down in order to reduce speed instead of using the brakes. You will ensure that the car is in the proper gear through corners.
Hang on... Was he asking about manual clutch, or manual gearbox?
LOL

Good call Kev, I read it as auto shifting the first time.

Clearly then there is a big advantage to manual control

With JUST manual clutch, it's possible to be faster - yes, but it also takes more care and skill to effectively use the clutch. I don't know what people say around here when they say "LFS Needs Proper Clutch Modelling"... Stalling etc yes, but as far as the clutch itself I don't know what the gripe is, someone please fill me in because the clutch does what it's supposed to do, and works like a clutch on any car I've driven Other than heat / wear, what is there to model?

Anyways, hope that clears it up:

Auto Shifting vs Manual shifting: Manual is definitely faster and better all around for various reasons.

Auto Clutch vs Manual Clutch: Faster if you know what you're doing and enjoy abusing your limbs and G25. Small errors are more costly. I used to use a button clutch (properly) and a pedal is a lot more work, so it also depends on "what" you're using for a manual clutch.
