Standard car setup per track
Hi All,

This is my first post on these forums so go easy on me

A few friends and I have recently chipped in and got ourselves a private server, we run a mini league on sunday evenings mainly for fun but it does get slightly competative.

One of the rules we have in place is we use standard car setups and we are looking at easy ways to enforce this either server side if it possible or via some form of stats output where we can see what setups people raced on and dock points accordingly

I've had a quick look at the LFS stats program see if that produced the information required but it doesn't seem to output car setups.

Any help, info or recommendations on this subject would be great

Cheers

Not really possible at the moment, I'm afraid.
Definitely needs to be added soon, though. Would be great for spec racing series.
i call this setup.... "hard Track"

I was in a league (LOTF Summer Series) not too long ago that had "fixed setup" races. The way they did it was, they had two "race admins" that each collected set's from half of the field. No one was allowed to pit or leave until they had sent their setup. They would look over the set's one at a time. I thought it worked out pretty well, until I got busted for not using the fixed set. (not on purpose ftr)

Even spec racing classes still let you adjust things like tire pressure, camber and suspension settings. Spec racing just ensures that all teams have the same basic car and ability to adjust. Even Showroom Stock classes allow setup changes within what is avalable in stock trim.

Enforcing a single setup is more like the Driver Challange type series of events where all the cars are setup identicle and by the same orginization.

What I would like to see is the setup options bebecome less granular in nature and more realistic steps be offered based on car class. Then we could enforce server side things like which options are changable and their range.

For example the street cars should have a fixed gear set, with only the final drive able to be altered and there should only be a few options for that. The faster street cars might have the option to run a short, normal and long gearset in the gearbox.

But in the end I have an idea I like even more and will repost it again in its own thread.
You can chek that all use same setup after race like this:
no one goes pit, one by one sending you setup and you go see is that one that should be
I love this idea. I've always hated the whole setup business anyway. I know some people love the race-pit-tweak-race-pit-tweak game, but I just want to race on a level playing field.

Semantics. That's what I meant.

edit: NR2003 used this option to great effect for pickup races.

Ditto. I think that really limiting the car setups to real world values would help a lot (This has been suggested many times here and in the improvements subforum). If the road car transmissions used standard ratios and there were only a few differential gears to choose from, that would take a lot of the setup work out. Do the same thing for springs and shocks (three or four ride heights and spring rates) and it would simplify things immensely. There would really only be a few good setups per track (at least for the road cars) and races would be much more even.
