Old School Arcade Game Type Thingy
It's kinda silly to have an old goat like me get giddy over the release of a minor computer game but that's the kind of nerd I am. I still keep half a sleeping eye on the indi game development scene, and every now and then something happens that catches my eye and makes me say "I want to be the mother of your binaries.".

Usually it's when Binary Zoo release something. Today is no exception, when I spotted they'd finaly released Echoes.
Fans of the STCC will recognise the music too, because the music we use during the pre-show was actually originally made for this game by Michael R King and Aaron Frensley.

It's a kinda old school style Asteroids affair, but on adrenaline with added LSD and a lethal injection of sugar rush. Those who have played Geometry Wars will get the basic idea pretty quick - but dont be to fooled into thinking it's Binary Zoo doing the ripping of ideas here, if you enjoy this you might want to take a look at some of their older games too - stretching back to days long before somebody tried packaging these type of games up for money on a console... Duo in particular was a major hit in its day.

Anyway, on with the linkage... Binary Zoo
I haven't tried it yet, I will, but I just have to say your posting style is probably the most entertaining on the entire forum

Edit: ZOMFG!!111!!1!!1!oneoneeleventeyone!!!! That's the coolest game ever!!! It's seriously what I've always wished Geometry Wars was!! It's even more insane and fast paced that Geometry Wars with better controls. OMFG I love it!!
hm i dont know really the controlls are thoroughly messed up and its rather too easy

not the best indi game ive seen so far

and can anybody tell me where i know that music from ?
okay, maybe it's not the greatest thing ever, I posted that right after I played and I was all hyped up lol. I do really like it though
Well, I thought it was awesome .

I found that I had to disconnect my wheel because it wanted to support a joypad right from the off.

I'll have to postpone clicking your link, nothing personal, nothing against it, but I need to have just one more go of echoes... maybe 12. FX to max, difficulty to hard, there's nothing like the hit of adrenaline before your coffee to make you realise just how slow mornings are.
the problem with the controls is that the ship doesnt have any inertia whatsoever
so when youre using the mouse to move it (especially if youve got a 2000 dpi mouse) its waaaay too easy to avoid getting hit
I prefer the old asteroids controls, with inertia etc. This is a pretty swanky conversion though. Menus are great. I got upto level 7

Here's a goodie - Torus Trooper (it's like LFS, in space. With guns. Inside a giant torus)
i figured it out ... the music is from the stcc broadcasts
cross reference marketing ? ^^
#11 - Jakg
no, the music is from the game, but the game was delayed a lot and Becky got their permission to use the music
i meant as in the broadcasts are where i know it from
It's not so much cross promotion as it is me being a huge fan of their work - and for some ungodly reason the guys appreciate some of the things I did before they emerged on the indi coding scene - so we get on with each other quite well, but I havn't spoken to anyone on the team in a while now... I'm just a fan .
That games insane
