New STCC autokick feature?
I'm up to 79% of the Bronze license, after taking a break from STCC I popped in to 1a and came in 2nd in my first race (not going very fast, but consistent ). Then I got booted.

Is this because my lap times aren't quick enough, or is it something else? (I've not been booted before, even when I've had a wheel clipped in T1 and completed the race with very slow times).
its because the servers are run by Nazis.

sensible response rather than the one above

have you got the auto gears on? (see seperate post) or any other driver aids which maybe now disallowed on these servers?

I seem to remember, but can't find, Becky saying something about if your fastest lap is over a certain percentage slower than wither the fastest lap of the race or the server record then you get booted with a message asking you to practice offline and come back.

I just looked at your race results on LFSWorld, in the race after you came second, your fastest lap was a 1.57, compared to the fastest lap of the race which was a 1.42. In the previous race where you came second your fastest lap was a 1.53.

A few more details would help... Did you get a message saying something along the lines of "come back after more practice"? And was everyone getting kicked?

I ask 'cause its happened before that someone sets a stupidly fast time (read as "someone cheats") which messes up the server stats. The server is (or was...) set to kick anyone who's ridiculously slow ie. dawdling about with the intention of being an obstacle.
If it says to practise offline then i think the problem are your laptimes. I have that too sometimes.

if it was to do with his speed and his fastest lap was 15 seconds off then what does that say of the quality of the rest of the field behind him?? even if theyt were quicker they must have been way inconsistent

Check the race details on LFSW...he came last.

I suspect Bontemps has been hard done by on the STCC servers, for either cheating, being a noob, or failing to follow the rules, and now has created an immature vendetta against Becky and all things STCC as a way to feel like he's 'better'...

With an attitude like that I think the STCC servers are better off without you

lol - mis-read his post

which he said " finished 2nd in my first race (not going very fast, but consistent ). Then I got booted."

rather than, finished my first race second, then had a really bad race, then got booted

No worries mate
The best way to get rid of people making immature comments is to ignore them =)

JamesK,

I checked your finish time to the person who finished. You simply just didn't finish the race soon enough and the server outo kicked you for not being within 120% of the leader for the duration of the race or your PB was 125% slower than the leader.

Don't quote me on those numbers they are not accurate, but it shows basically what happened.

Normally for people this isn't a problem but the guy who finished 1st runs some pretty good times and you just had a bad race, I see the race before you were a good 5 seconds quicker on your PB, if you would have ran that time again you would have been fine.

Since he's gonna have a stab at the STCC "Nazis", I'll make no apology for pointing out that he'd never have been allowed to enter the STCC servers in the first instance, if Becky hadn't given out an amnesty on all Barricaded drivers and retired their permabans. This experiment has, quite honestly, proven to me beyond doubt that the Barricade is worth keeping. The majority of people who've been banned from the STCC since Christmas were already known to the Barricade.

[edit] I should say, MANUALLY banned. Not banned automatically for driver aids.

Question to STCC people in the know...

can this be overcome by pitting before the end if you've had a particulalry bad race (and there is an alien out in front) to ensure you can stick around for the next race??

An example would be, a first lap crash you try to drive it round and make a second lap, but that lap it's too bad, so you then go into pits lap 3/4. as you've done this you get lapped. therefore you have had only 4 laps, none of them clean or quick times and you have the 'potential' to be kicked off the server for being too slow?

I have no idea honestly, worth a shot if you think you will get kicked. Not sure what the ban time is for this, I want to say 10 days, but Becky will know for sure.

If it's going really badly, yep.. not finishing the race at all, or completing less than 75% of the race distance when you finish, it won't kick you.

[edit] there's no ban for not being competitive. Only for trying to cheat the system, or being caught/reported for being a jerk.

[edit2] The reason for the kick is to make room on the server for someone who may be more competitive. If the server's not busy, just head back in. Being kicked for not being so fast isn't something you should take personally
It's just a kick, not a ban. It occurs if you complete 75% or more of the race distance and have not been remotely competitive.

cool thanks for the clarification - best make sure that when i actually get around to driving on the silver/gold server that i get some praccy in, cuase that place could be called 'Area 51' with the amount of Aliens that have the potentail to go on there and i'd hate to be kicked cause of a few errors whilst learning a new car/track combo...

LOL I think your right =)

I condsider myself as a good driver and when I hop onto the Silver/gold servers I find myself routinely midfield =)

LOL - i would consider you a VERY good driver

that aside...

i must admit since the FXO was taken away from the server as a silver licensed ride (i did 10%) with it then i've stopped going onto the server as i'm not a RWD guy and tbh i don't particulalry wanna get booted off for 'learning' the XRT online as apart from getting the license to be able to race in the FXO again, there is no motivation for me to do it

Funny, I stopped racing on their servers when I got to Silver/Gold and found I had to get 10,000xp and gold and other assorted magical items before the server would let me drive the XRT. I suppose they must've changed the rules since then.

Yes The change from the silver license being able to drive the FXO to the XRT/RB4 was done awhile ago, I think over a month ago, cannot remember 100%

I guess the only option for you then Dru is to get onto some non STCC servers and practice your booty off =)

That was a long time ago (in a galaxy far, far away)

There's the "Silver and Up" LRF server now for the RWD fanatics

Edit: Beaten by Viper...nothing new here then.
