The online racing simulator
Real life kart tracks would be a good idea once, or if, we get karts in LFS. I know for a fact that my local track is only open for karting two days every month. They have RC races there but I'm sure there's tons of time when it's not being used. I would have thought they'd also let you use the track in LFS for free, with it being a small club and LFS gives it free exposure.

Hm.. how about Donington for licensing? Has anyone contacted them yet?

Maybe an autograss club ...

Donington might be a bit more expensive ...
Quote from Becky Rose :The question is, would the devs want it?

I emailed them previously about making a track gratis and got no reply.

That is unfortunate. I would be more than willing to spend my free time making a new track if I thought it had a snowball's chance in hell of making it into the game. I'm pretty certain that many of the guys who make tracks for Racer would also be willing to convert their current tracks or make new tracks for LFS, if only they could get them accepted.

Maybe not karts, but to drive a MRT5 on a kart track would be cool too. I mean I really don't like MRT5 on blackwood or other tracks, cause it looks too big for the MRT. And I think making a kart track, or any other track suitable for MRT, would make it alot more popular than it is now.
mixer13134 - the MRT5 is an autocross machine... and we have an autocross editor. Go make/download some layouts and try it at what it was designed to do. Alternatively get 19 mates and take it to Fern Bay Club or Aston Cadet.
When was the last time LFS got a new track anyway? S2? June 05?

New tracks in '05 with the launch of S2. '06 we got two Aston configs, of which the Aston north is a great track and aston GT quite similar with the GP.
Quote from BuddhaBing :Not true. See post #50 in this thread. I contacted MotorSport Vision Ltd, who own and manage Snetterton and several other well-known circuits in the UK, and asked about licensing requirements for the use of a 3D likeness of their tracks. They charge a £10,000 per venue licensing fee for each circuit plus additional fees to access the track for photography, surveying and so on.

Here's the relevant text from their email response: "
Thank you for the enquiry regarding licensing the IP for MSV group of circuits. To licence our circuits we require a one off payment of £10,000 plus VAT for each venue for each game produced (multiple platforms permitted). In addition should you require access to the circuit to photograph, film or measure we require payment of the standard track hire fee for each day required."

Sorry I must have misread the post , maybe I could make Snitterton instead ... I preffer fantasy tracks anyway - why go to all the effort of making a track environment only to end up with 1 config...?

Creating tracks
Hi I am new to this forum, as I am new to the LFS. However I have got some experience in creating 3d models. I am interested in the possibility of creating new traks, namely a city map. I would be able to create a track, models and textures in Cinema 4d. I am a noob (sigh) so any feedback is appreciated.

Custom made content is not possible to use in LFS at the moment. Possibly in the future, but not before S3.
Sorry, you have to create your tracks for some other game since LFS does not support modding.

Mantorp has three..
Most well-known tracks are driven to death in other games, so I prefer others.
Doubt real-life tracks would be added in the future, but real-life inspired tracks would be awesome
For some reason, the track I'd most like to see in LFS is Sebring.

For me there are a couple of tracks I would like to see but on the whole apart from history most real life tracks are no more interesting than fantasy ones. The tracks I would like are

- The ring, I know it is really a hotlap track but what a hot lap track
- Bathurst

I agree with a comment from Bob earlier. Real tracks would be far more of a pull for user base than real cars. Thing is with fantasy tracks you are free to create more interesting and fun to drive than many RL tracks
