Frame sync. How to?
I cant get my head around this:

Four variables:
1 Graphics engine
2 Graphics card
3 Display monitor
4 Users eyes

Now lets just say that Gfx engine is firing out info at 60hz/fps, and your monitor is set to 60hz and Graphics card(LFS game) set to 60fps also.

If users are claiming that they get 'cleaner' or 'smoother' gameplay by setting LFS to 'grab' frames at a higher rate this suggests that between 1 and 3 there must be something else happening like frames getting skipped or out of sync in some way.

I wonder if there is a way to check that each and every frame produced by the gfx engine makes it to the monitor in one piece?

So the overall look between 1 and 4 all depends on how well synchronised the three factors are. Yes,no, or am I talking rubbish?
When Vsync is turned on, the gfx board wont render more frames than needed (except for buffers).

If Vsync is turned off however, the gfx board will render as much as it can - but it won't be complete frames.

Have you ever noticed that a game seems to be updating in chuncks? Thats because Vsync is turned on, and because the gfx board can render some areas faster than other - which is also why Vsync turned off doesn't look as smooth - only when gfx board doesn't get too stressed though :P
