Xbox 360 USB Controller
I was thinking about getting the Xbox 360 USB Controller. I was wondering if anyone has this... and if so would they recommend it for LFS? I'm not getting it specifically for LFS though, so I was looking for a game controller that would work with lots of games and isn't too expensive, so I don't really want to invest in a wheel.

Thanks guys.

i have one, mostly use it for pro evo 6. for gamepads, its probably the best, but its nowhere near a wheel.
my mate uses it he said its rubbish !sensitivitie is a big problem !for the extra couple of quid go off and buy a DFP or something !best of luck
if you already have a 360 controller, the wireless adapter is $20.

If you have a wired controller I would try that out and see if you can find the drivers for it on the xbox website, worth a shot before dropping more cash on another controller.

Only reason I assume you may already have a controller is I think I recognize your name from Forza Central.

Oh, hey, I thought I recognized that name. Yeah I'm Kstorm43 on FC too.

Yeah, I have a wireless controller. I didn't know anything about a wireless adapter, I'll probably go for that now. Thanks a lot!

I think this is the one hundreth time ive said this

Dont use xbox controllers unless you plan to drive auto gears BECAUSE you need alien fingers to use that pad, its useless, get a ps2 pad or a Saitek pad...

naaahhh, if you use the 2 back triggers for accelerate and brake, and use l1 and r1 for gear changes, that would work fine. i can do that without thinking.

theres the thing your looking for to hook up wireless controller to PC.

if your using it though, use the XBCD drivers. the normal drivers have the 2 triggers on the same axis, which would be useless.

I'll post here first to save making a new thread. I have a 360 wheel and am having problems with it. I can't say if its just on LFS because I don't have another racing game on the pc. My problem is when I'm playing the game the throttle pedal will stop working, the rest of the hardware works (including the brake pedal) but the throttle has no responce and the call just rolls to a halt. I emailed LFS and they say they don't think its the a game error so I was wondering if anyone has had this problem and can help?

Thanks
Well, I got it, but I'm having some problems. I'm trying to set the gas/brake as the trigger buttons, but it won't work for some reason. Any solutions? And is there any way to change the sensitivity of the joysticks? Thanks.
i started out usin my 360 controller but its so twitchy!! its realy hard to keep in a straight line 2 lol.
have u tried settin up the L and R triggers as AXIS? thats how i had mine set up
it also has to be combined
Wrong.
With the XBCD XP community drivers you can have separate brake/gas axes for the triggers. It also makes deadzones possible which is awesome. You have to use the XBCD drivers specially tailored for the 360 controller, as the originals were meant for use with the original XBOX controllers.
Also, you will have the actually delete the original MS driver files from the system32\drivers folder before the XBCD driver will be recognized. (basically, unplug the controller, delete the MS driver (you can see what filename to delete by going into the device manager), install the XBCD driver, THEN plug the controller back in. If you do not do this exactly, the computer will never use the driver you want for the controller)

Get a wheel when you can though. I used a 360 controller, and while fun, it just doesn't cut it for extended, competitive (did *I* just say that?!) driving since you actually have to concentrate not to overcook steering inputs (unlike wheels, mice, or joysticks).
