Only seeing relevant Setups in the Garage
The more Setups I have, the more it gets messy, I would like to suggest that setups are getting saved or sorted somehow, so that only Setups show up in the Garage screen that are related to the current car and the track.
Which setups shown are not related to the current car?

I agree that it would be nice to have setup management system similar to Papyrus games, with maybe exception of possibility making your own setup the default setup for all tracks, if no specific setup for that track is marked.
I have downloaded the Inferno Setups, and the Garage is full of them even if they are not related to the track, and Setups have quite short names in LFS, so I dont understand why Setups for other cars and tracks show up at all? Making it all more confusing to me
I really don't want to see a folder based system. I just very much disliked how I had to copy setups one by one from other folders and rename then in GPL and Nascar. The setups are already filtered by car name (XRT, XRR, UF1 etc..) and a similar system would work great for a track based system.

I agree it would be nice to have the ability to add tags to them for info.

The way I do it is give them informative names like BL1_hotlap or WE_endu
Sorry Bob, but I made a Search and couldnt find something specific, so how can one filter the Setups so that only relevant ones to the current car and the track shows up?

I'd like simply to just show only the cars/tracks that I'm using. But; I'd like the ability to copy a setup from a different car/track. Bit like GP4 did it. Was ok. It all gets saved to a folder, n you have a drop down choosing car/track... so you can pick one from any car track n only display those... that allows you to copy from another too. Simple, effective.

It would definitely be nice to have some type of setup browser with a filter. I've been racing in the LOTA fo8 league and I have an ungodly amount of fo8 setups from having to develop setups for most of the tracks.

i got too many setups here, it's a pain to find one that matches with the current combo

also, we can have a feature to import setups from other combos

i don't think that its a hard thing to be implemented(this word exists?), we already got setups sorted by car, just need do add the track prefix to the setup name
like: xrt_bl1_hotlap

i guess that this feature could be done in a compatible patch

I looked at the design you came up with and that is a nice slick way to do it. It also adds some other nice and useful graphic displays for things like the HP/Torque curves, grearing and a notes section. I really like the concept. It have a more polished and usfull look then we have now.
Hi all, I don't know if you already know that, but you can have colored names for your setups, just like you have colored player names.
Press & hold Ctrl while naming or renaming a setup and you'll get the familiar 9 color palette to choose a color.

The good thing is that the colors you choose have an effect at the real setup name!!
The colors are (from left to right) the following: black, red, green, yellow, blue, magenta, cyan, white and null which correspond to these codes in the real name ^0, ^1, ^2, ^3, ^4, ^5, ^6, ^7, ^8, ^9.
So, when you have a set appear like this in LFS AS3_INF_R assuming it's a BF1 set it's real name in the LFS\data\settings folder is
BMW SAUBER_^1AS3_INF^9_R

Now, if we take advantage of Scawen's recent implementation to have the ability to sort your sets by name , you can have all sorts of sets, but the colored ones will always be on the top due to their real filename.

So I have colored my race sets with red and my qualify sets with yellow and all the rest are down the list below them. You could use some other clolors too, like blue and magenta and cyan to describe base sets, rally cross sets, endurance sets, or whatever you like. As long as you are consistent with the colors and use the 3 characters track abbreviation for each set your list will always be tidy.

The only drawback to this trick is that the color codes eat up some characters from the length of the name of the setup and you might have to trim them a little.

One other thing is that if you have the whole name in color, eg red you can't tell if the set is highlighted. So you have to name it like this: AS3_INF_R
The first letters are with color, but I changed to null color for the last characters which can be highlighted.

This works fine for me, I hope you'll find it usefull too.

I think it's better to make the setup update when the physics change considerably. Simply because when the old setups become incompatible you wouldn't have to rename all your old setups to work with the new method. With the new setup system you also start "fresh", unless the old setups are compatible...

Maybe your right and this improvement suggestion is not able to do in a compatible patch.
