I am actually a little bit shocked and suprised that there hasn't been more response to this.
Is there any reason behind it?, is this not needed?, or is it something with the event that is stopping people?, maybe I need to advertise it in some different circles?.
Happy to see this stay in General Discussion.. it's LFS-promotional, and naturally we want to encourage that wherever possible.
Since it's directed at demo users, it's possible that a lot of them haven't found their way to the LFS forums. You might be better off wandering from demo server to demo server, doing a bit of minimal spamming to draw attention to it. That's where you'll find the enthusiastic LFS drivers who don't yet have S2, I'll bet
When we did the demo league, it was hard to gain intrest also. I set up a demo server and had some auto message's detailing the league which brought them to the forum/info. Maybe that would help. If you like the idea and need a server, let me know. (i guess you wouldnt need a server, doh )
Nice, now thats a decent idea.........I haven't secured a server........yet.........anyone kind enough to donate one, for the event, and what th84 is suggesting, can they contact my through PM's please
I would say most are still rolling around laughing!
Established? How is a 1 month old team established? hehe
I had to check that, but 18th Feb for the post stating DR (breifly Apex Racing) had formed, personally i'd say at least 6 months needs to be on the clock to consider yourself established, with the number of teams forming then dying months later i think thats pretty reasonable IMO.
Although it would be borderline spamming it might be worthwhile putting this in the n00b area of this forum, because i'd bet 90% of the visitors to this forum are regulars (and i'd bet 99% of the site hits are from about 4 people!! ) and it could be that the people playing the demo just dont have the same interest level to keep checking back on the forum for that site. Take most games that you've tried a demo of, you wouldnt always go digging round their official forums (the few that dare have them!) to read stuff, most people play for a few hours and go back to what they're doing, and its the more fanatical people which frequently visit these places digging for information, not the people who are occasional players.
How you fix that, dunno, but that could be part of your problem
Well, after spamming my butt off on some demos servers, I have come to the conclusion that the vast majority of demo users aren't interested in getting a license, very odd

I've been there.
A couple of weeks ago liveforspeed.se opened a paypal account since the members had been discusing the possibility of organizing a league where an s2 voucher would be rewarded to the winner. The money was raised in no time. Finding participants was much harder. We spammed swedish gaming forums, racing forums and demo-servers, but we could barely find enough people to fill a server (10 users!).
Only 5 guys came through, even though the league was only 4 races.

Yeah, we really struggled for entries towards the end of the series. And it was totally free. I just don't get why demo racers wouldn't want clean racing with a prize which is actually worth something for the winner
yeap I'd have to concure with that I still race on demo servers now and again and the racing that I have that is clean and professional is mostly with other S2 users on demo So a large majority of demo users that don't have S2 are into drifting more... Also I guess there are others that are just casual users of demo for racing and aren't that interested in an organised league type event
Perhaps a server with a type of ladder system would work better for attracting demo users.
Also, talk to a lot of the International LFS website owners (eg LFS France, LFS Spain, LFS Brazil, etc), and see if you can get them to post about it on their forums.
Hell, it isn't really spreading the word much even on THIS forum. Get a banner up top ^, get the word out even more. Because the Demo users aren't as active as licensed users, and when they have the time to visit, they may not be attracted by the name "LFS4FREE" immediately... why not "WIN A FREE S2 License!"

There is a catch though. One of the requirements was: "1) You must have been a signed-up member to the LFS forums BEFORE today’s date, 22/03/07". Even if it is good to spread the message I would make sure that that 1st requirement is on the post. Otherwise there will be "few" annoyed demo racers .

Another possibility is to see if its possible to arrange a mailout via PM and or email to all registered demo forum users
Just a quick bump for this, have advertised at ASS forums and RSC forums, have spammed demo servers, still quite slow on the sign ups.
Entry requirements have "slightly" changed, forum members that signed up after the date can enter, but priority will be given to those forum members who registered prior to the date.
As for the mass PM, anyone know if this is at all possible?
