Quote from ajp71 :The issue isn't (entirely) the rF physics engine more the fact that few people make realistic tire curves for their mods. It uses a basic non-calculated spreadsheet style system so if the right data is inputted it can completely change things.

That hasnt made any sence due to my lack of programing, and english skills...

HOWEVER
Quote from JTbo :Mods, well mods are cars and their parts, there are ISI mods that are standard cars, their standard cars are possible to drift only with unrealistic controllers like MOMO wheel and setting steering lock to max, well still you can mostly just powerslide, no real drifting possible because spin of doom and tire curves that loose 30% or more from tire grip on slide, yet from that over 60% is lost because of other paramters when sliding with tires that game comes with so yes, you need to make your own tires and car to make it handle like a car, imo...
edited out a lot of text...

THIS - DID, thank you for the explanation

I got the idea of it...BUT...still, if it requires to modify something as important as tyres, I dont think that the devs have made a fantastic job (you dont have drift tyres in real life, you can powerslide in anything on wheels....basicaly)
Quote from Hyperactive :Drifting awd cars is so hard anyways. Can you drift rwd car in rf? Does it look or handle anything like it should? I haven't seen...

Drift R34s usually are RWD...

Actually you don't need to have special drift tires, just need to fix those that came with the game, also car that is in proper weight range, with light cars you can't get real drifting or then you need to use inertias that are meant to heavier cars. That is one of the biggest issues that light cars are not working so well, there are other issues too.

@Hyperactive there are some RWD clips in this thread, but in current state that is not enough snappy, imo. Don't know about AWD cars, seem to be better than RWD anyway, but you really can't enter corners way you can IRL also it does not maintain speed too well when sliding so that is some kind of problem with physics. Some old clip that I did from modded sounds, other than that mod is stock and no special drift setup made, it just won't stay on proper angle as it seem to forget big part of tire forces that should accelerate the car.

Usually. I just wonder what is the case with that vid

I watched the vids and one thing that bothers me is that there seems to be nothing happening in the car's path or angle when you start applying throttle after throwing the car into corner with lift-off-oversteer. First the rear tyres are slowing you down (nose down) and in the next moment they are accelerating the car (nose up), yet the car body doesn't notice (this) at all.

Still, impressive what you have so far accomplished, especially when looking at the constraints you have to work with

One of the weird things is that when rears are slowing a lot at turn in they seem to have some magic grip compared to when you accelerate, also when you brake that will save you almost everything, this is with every mod and with every edit that is done, still I'm looking some way to go around of that at least, but don't know if there is any.

Well that is one of weird things that engine does when tries to combine different forces, imo.

Guess why I'm always saying +1 for LFS modding?
looks cool !
The tyres in the drift mod are bad.. they peak laterally somewhere between 30 and 50 degrees (!!!!) depending on the load on the tyre.
