The online racing simulator
Judging by all the reports of a Memory Access Violation, I'd venture to say these were made in Blitz?

LFSkidmarks sounds fun, I'll try it out when I get home later today.
Any ideas how to get around the Memory Access Violation?

Nevermind, I realized the zip file didnt create the trk folder. I had to copy it from a December installation of RW.

Nice work Becky, should be a usefull tool.
I dont know if has to do with me being demo or not but I go to click on a server in RaceWatcher but it goes to download the skins and it doesnt do anything it keeps trying and trying but wont download them?
Nice..very nice!
You guys don't just download the update and try to run that (that's why you get the error), download the other file that was really poorly named as "Some LFS Stuff I Made" (sorry, but I think people go straight for the 'update' link when they see this)

After you've got that, the EXE in the update zip file is what you want to replace. Do it just like you update LFS.

Sounds like you are connecting to a host which is LFS V4 or earlier. The server must be LFS V5 or later, all STCC servers are V5.
I connected to STCC server.....same thing happened...
LFS 'Skidmarks'!?! Oh the memories....... (Me goes rummaging through loft in search of an Amiga 1200)
great program Becky.

2 Questions though..
1.) i only get a small list of servers (4 - 5 ) is this supposed to happen?
2.) is there any way that i can add a server to that list for people to be able to watch?

Nice work though
Race Watcher only shows servers with active players and no [EDIT: INSIM spectator relay] password.

To add a server goto your LFS World desktop and open the section on LFS Racers & Hosts online, goto the insim relay page and setup LFSW to relay your server.

The server must be LFS V5 host or later, as it uses changes in INSIM which came live with V5 for the auto skin downloading.

If you are running an INSIM application on the server such as LFS Lapper you will need to connect LFSWorld to a relay, I dont know if Lapper supports this, my own is integrated into my management suite.

Cheers becky. didnt realise it was through the relay.

A shame its only for those without passwords though.. Do you think that you will be adding anything to support passworded servers also.?
I plan to update and improve it periodically, although passworded servers are a long way off the priority list in terms of features. Just to be clear though, the server can be passworded - this is seperate to the 'spectator' password that INSIM gives you.

To put that in context, last night I watched most of a Czech league race with LX4's. It was on a passworded league server, but there was no password on the relay.

You can set that password on the INSIM relay page of LFSW.
Oh in terms of it being through the relay, I guess it's possible that I could eventually add support for direct connections - but LFS dedi hosts only support 1 INSIM connection, so unless you develop/setup relaying software it has to be relayed in order to be viewable by more than 1 person - so it seemed easier to just bounce off the LFSW relay as it provides everything that is needed. (one way INSIM communication).

ahh so the server itself can still be passworded. so long as the spectator pass on the relay page is still blank, Got ya. Thanks.

I did download package + update, extracted package and applied updated racewatcher.exe, when I start it it gives list of servers, I pick one and seems to log to server as I see track far below, there is for example cars 2/4 and it starts to load skins FXO_GTR it says, this comes and goes tens of times, after more than 5 minute I got really bored as tab still did not switch cars and right button did not rotate view, also mousewheel did not zoom.

Then I did try other server now it reads cars 1/3 and again same thing FXO_GTR skin download comes and goes I left it on background did some stuff and when I came back 10mins later nothing had changed skin download comes stays for 30 seconds or something like that and then goes away and loop begins again.

It seems to be that program is not working for me, from software firewall program is allowed and hardware firewall is set so that I can play LFS and also watch races with LFS Spectator, I would think that this should work too then?

Any tips what to try to get it pass skin download phase?
That isn't a skin name, it's because you've connected to an LFS V3 or earlier server. I did start writing backwards compatible support the other night, but then I got drunk and didn't get it working.

Sounds healthy enough

Must try clicking other two servers then, maybe one would work, do you plan adding filtering so older servers are not showing up?

Edit: Oooh, got nice error message after connecting ESL #1, it downloaded few skins I think until that came and then it just kept saying same thing over and over again. Don't know if that is any useful to you, but at least now you know what happened :P
My plan was to get them working, but I guess as it's a legacy issue with old servers then filtering them out is probably a better idea.
I see how it works now. Thanks Becky.

I have found a problem though. Perhaps its just the track but.

On SO5 (south city Town) the camera does not move or follow cars at all. Just stays stuck at the same place.

Becky, Newer servers also don't show on the filters either.
Camera not moving, that should just be a one off and is because of some dropped data packets.

The newer servers not showing, as in LFS V6 or later? I'll need to look to see if anything is new in INSIM or the relay specification, or whether it is just that those servers are not running via the LFSW Relay or something. Remember that the server operator must setup the server for relaying on their LFSW desktop for it to appear visible to Race Watcher.

STCC servers are now running V9 and show up in Race Watcher just fine.

Dunno why but this only works for stcc servers. Doesn't work on any other server I try. The window that keeps poppping for skin downloading gets annoying after a while too.
