Online Mode for Hotlapping
Hi all,

I am Hotlapping Offline in LFS very often. But I don´t upload Hotlaps to LFSWorld. Why?
Because I don´t know my PBs of all the Track / Car Combos I drive. So when I hotlap offline I never know if I have a new PB or not.

It would be a nice Feature if LFS would at least look if you have uploaded a Hotlap for the driven Combo and if you did a better time or not. It would be easy then to save the Replay by Hand and extract the Hotlap for uploading.

At least that "Online Checking" would be very nice and I think more people will be uploading Hotlaps. The next Step would be that your new HL can be uploaded semi Automatically (i.e. after a Popup or by checking something in the Options like "Automatic HL Uploading).

But the 1st suggestion (Tracking if you drive a new PB while hotlapping) would be really nice. What do you think?

Basically you want that we could store our offline hotlaps in LFS and compare them against WRs/previous hotlaps. Of course it would be nice if LFS could store the replays and even better if LFS could cut out the best lap and store it for later use. But I don't think offline PBs (best times done in offline races) are of any significance.

I really don't like if my programs start automatically checking and comparing things and stuffs, I prefer the manual route. And there is really no point to upload replays that are many seconds slower than the WR so some kind of pre-check system would be nice. And the possibility to view LFSworld infos inside LFS
Well, the ability to do /w pb in hotlap sure would be nice, and I don't think it would be too hard to get to. It's a good idea, +1 from me!
+1 for autouploading of hotlaps in hotlap mode.

Also make /w commands work in single player, and log SP distance.
+1

I agree with you that there should be no automatic Checking. It could be a setting in the Options if you WANT Online Checking or not. So it´s up to the User to decide if he wants that feature or not.

I don´t agree here. In another Thread there was a suggestion for something like GPLRank. And there you upload all your Hotlaps even if they are in Range of a WR or not. If you could Upload all your PBs you could later watch your improvements which would push motivation for doing better and better.

And we must remember that many LFS Racers (like me) are never able to get into range of a WR. So i.e. for me it would be a Challenge to get say to the Top 50 for a specifig Combo. So uploading a PB should be allowed for everyone.

With that several seconds thing I actually meant laps times that are 10+ seconds slower shouldn't be automatically uploaded by the system. In all honesty, such lap time doesn't tell anything, especially on shorter tracks but there is really no reason why one shouldn't be allowed to upload such laps. But if it is done automatically, it would just consume bandwidth because that kind of lap times will be broken every time you go on track . Of course on longer tracks, like on Nürburgring or Isle of man the lap times have bigger absolute differences

Speaking of GPLrank, it had that very useful lap time history graph. It was useful when you wanted to see how much you have improved over time. Of course with LFS the physics changes would make it a bit harder to implement it into LFSworld. But if the lap graph used relative lap time differences between the wr/rank time and own times you could see how you have developed. Basically the absolute difference between the rank time and your time changes as physics get better (slower or faster lap times) but the relative difference would stay pretty much the same. The cars getting faster or setups getting better would not have an effect on the relative differences

@Hyperactive: I agree 100%. Nice Idea with that "relative to WR" thingy
