Anyway to get FPS up Without buying upgrades?
I run a Stock PC (not sure excact specs but it has a GeforceFX5200 in it) and I get around 20-30 FPS in packed servers and 30-40 (peaks at 47) when im alone.

Anyone know how I can make it so I have more FPS while playing but still have it look decent?
no way of telling unless you post yr pc specs

If you rightclick my computer and select properties you should see how much ram you got and your processor type/speed.
go to start - run, and type in dxdiag, and basically copy down.. the important things

step by step (copy what dxdiag says for the following) :
system model (there are times this may be necesary to copy down)
processor
memory

now near the top click on display, and on the upper left, copy what is said by:
name
approx. total memory
Sorry to hijack your thread a bit, but here's my stuff.

Anyone know how to get the most out of my computer?
I'm running an Nvidia Geforce 5700 FX graphics card. If you wanted to know.

Okay here they are i guess:

Processor: AMD Athlon XP 3200+, MMX, 3DNow, ~2.2GHz
Memory:512MB RAM

Graphicscard:NVIDIA Geforce FX 5200
Total Memory 128.0 MB

Guess thats it.

Your computer is pretty old. Older than mine, which I thought wasn't possible. I'm guessing its an AGP Motherboard? Try getting a cheap Graphics card, mine can be bought for around £25 these days, if your AGP, that is.

I CANNOT upgrade ANYTHING on this computer.

It simply won't work my dad says and hes the one who gave it to me.

He's also the man who scored 143 on his IQ test so im going with what he says lol.
Oh right, I didn't realise you were in a situation like that, i thought you just didn't want to spend money or something.

Yeah i know and im poor too.

If i had money i'd buy an Alienware PC already lmao.
so you're using XP? close all the useless apps from the backgroud (leave firewall on) eating your ram&cpu, then start to pull the graphics sliders towards left within LFS until you get some decent frames with a full AI field for example. And if you have anti aliasing/anisotropic filtering on in the graphics card drivers, turn them off.

I don't even know what half the apps are and if i close one of em out it might be a system thing and my comp might go into a neverending restart cycle.

Can't you just tell me something else ingame? I turned AA and AF off from the graphics card.

Will hardware vertex shading help if its on?
I never ran LFS with anything other than MAX settings but I think your best bet would be to try this:

graphics options

the top LOD sliders: 0,50 - 0,20 - 0,50
full size textures = no
car and helmet skins = compressed

see if that gets you anywhere

edit: oh and in the misc section check dynamic LOD reduction...it might make cars look ugly but keeps the framerate high on the crowded starts. set it to 1.00 or maybe less. Try disabling fulscreen vsync and also reduce the multiplayer car draw distance

OMFG DUDE YOUR MY HERO!!!!

I got 98.8 FPS in 3rd person view and 70 FPS incar!!!

That was alone but still a major improvement and it still looks great ingame!!!!111oneoneone

EDIT:Yeah i turned off "Multiplayer car speedup" so i know what that is and Vsync is off.

Gonna check that dynamic thing now. Its at 0.50 so it should be okay.

The other thing to try is switch back to full size textures but drop down to 16bitgfx from 32bit and enable dither. This will give you a big life in fps without the ugly effects of half size textures

if u mean 16bit in resolution i already have it to 16 bit.

and dither is on also...hmm.
