Thanks for all ur hard work Scawen. Much appreciated.

The "Traffic Approaching" message is not a LFS bug - this message is not produced by LFS. It's the STCC InSim software sending a message to you, probably it is a bug in that. Anyway, it would be best to make a note of it in the STCC sub forum in the leagues section.
hi since patch w, lfs starts crashing while trying to initializing mainscreen...

AppName: lfs.exe AppVer: 0.0.0.0 ModName: dsound.dll
ModVer: 5.3.2600.2180 Offset: 0000e3fe

but maybe its a problem couzed by myself, dunno but reboot doesnt helped...

edit: reinstalled audio drivers, now crashing with that message,

AppName: lfs.exe AppVer: 0.0.0.0 ModName: d3d8.dll
ModVer: 5.3.2600.2180 Offset: 00048bb2

TEST PATCH W (2 MB) :
[ EDIT : download link removed - you can get it using the autoupdater - just click on List of Games in LFS ]

can you send me the corresponding link, please? Auto-Update failed and now I'm stuck with the server instead of the client :/
First of all thanks for the new patch i think that it really means progress. Although i feel i must say something about those sounds, engine sounds.
I must say that some of them sounds really nice, some others all really crap, its only the truth. For instance the F1 car, that can only be a bad taste joke, the car simply sounds crippy, starts to sturtter at high speed, i would like to see that explained. All turbo's, dont have turbo?!?! In FXO/RB4/XRT you can't hear the turbo's, thats non sense to say the least.
The FZ5 sounds worst then my 1300w vacuum cleaner, seriously. The FOX well, needle is showing redline but it sounds like we're still half way through the revs, no pitch, no high pitch on formulas in a general way.
Strangely its not all bad, some cars sounds great, not much of them but some. I don't understand how can ppl praise so much for this sounds when the package has serious flaws. Also strange is how can some sounds fit so good and others so bad, almost horrible. Its also like some of the cars have been neglected.
I respect both devs and Dave's work around this subject, the sounds issue is for a long time now being a major reason of discontentment within the community, but come on!!! Did you guys heared all the sounds some times before releasing them??
I understand that i might not colect many supporters on this, some might think that i'm a flammer or something, but thats not my intentions. I just want a better and better LFS for all of us, my statement was more then overthough and hopefully will be considered.

Regards

Please consider that the sound system has been completely reworked starting with patch V, and more improvements will come.
That's why Scawen said Dave did so well within the limitations of the current sound engine.
I can't really see what's to complain about the new sounds. No they're not perfect yet, but for a long time the sounds did not get any improvements, and now they are getting attention. Noone ever said these are the final sounds, after all LFS is a work in progress. Compared to the previous default sounds I think they're a HUGE step forward. The sounds Dave and others have managed to get out of the current engine have made me a firm believer in the new sound system. Imagine what will be possible when Scawen works on the engine some more. IMO the engine sounds in LFS have never been this good, so that makes me confident about this feature.
Interesting.

I can hear the turbochargers aplenty on the TBO class, so I wonder why you can't... You can always turn it up on your own version...

new LX6 sound (davews) sounds awesome like hell
Thanks for this piece of art Scawen

It works fine for me (solo or online).
@ Joen
Mate understand something, i play LFS for almost 3 years now, i love the sim and the dev team and know all the bla bla you talked about. I also consider that the new engine sound its a real upgrade to previous system.
But you speech its on the defense, and i'm not attacking, so you can drop your guards, just listen well to the cars i have refered and them tell your opinion again.

Problably since the devs option went to use sounds moded by the community, they could/should gather some more packs and find the best sound for each car on their opinion and make a small upgrade.
anyone else having trouble connecting to the master server? I try to look for host and it freezes and says Connecting To Master Server

I am not saying you're attacking at all, and I don't have any guards to drop. I think you're just easily offended. I'm just stating that sometimes people tend to think anything new is going to be the final version. Did you follow the thread on the patch V sounds? countless remarks on vacuum cleaners. Read that and you'll know what I mean.

If you know so much about LFS and know all the blabla, maybe you could have expected that sort of response? And maybe you could have provided your feedback on Dave's sound when they were first introduced? Just asking if people have even listened to the sounds before including them is just a pointless remark, as you know what the answer to your own question is.

I think it's better to stick to Dave's sounds. Otherwise we'll maybe end up with 10 different "official" pack creators. Besides Dave has something to build on now.

And actually there should be no problem with the sounds for you, as we have a sound editor now, so you can make them exactly the way you think they should be.
Hi the Patch is great but there is one thing i noticed when playing online when driving and in ym rear view mirir a car quite far back well not far viewable to see there driver, the cars bumper comes all solid with no gaps and so the whole body of the car becomes like an oval, is it just me?

I will try get a pic so you understand what i mean

Jesus, it's your native language and i barely understood what you mean...

But since you mentioned this, i also had this the other day, it wasn't patch W, it was Test Patch V9 or V8, not sure. I didn't see cars in my rear mirror, but they were very close on the map, and i could see them when looking behind me, they were like 40, 50 metters behind me, but they didn't show up on the main mirror. Only noticed this once... It was on a straight of BL rev if that helps.
Thanks! Thought it might be an April fool's joke at first but no, great patch. Sounds are way better. MAkes me turn up the volume

Have you seen this: http://www.google.com/tisp/ ???

Sometimes only the headlights disappear, other time the cars behind you look like a shoe, if they have no skin.

Something to do with your LOD reduction. Try "Mirror LOD" and "Dynamic LOD Reduction". Change them around

Just a huge 15 FPS drop (33% loss). Seems to be massivley affected by Layouts and multiplayer. I understand My GPU is sorta oldish - but I have a huge drop here (when V8 was running nicely) and I must now run LFS at 0.2 LOD and that looks quite bad. Quite a few in Multiplayer players report the same large drops is FPS but most wont post here.

I found the problem...... With all my messing around and testing I had actually turn OFF Multiplayer speedup option. I enabled it again and everything was back to normal. Sorry for any confusion or hassles.

I double posted this because I double reported the problem. Sheesh
