Oh no! not another I been banned thread!!!
Uh, no it's not, but I'm kinda curious about what it looks like when you've been banned. does it tell you on the server list or when you try to join?
Personally I think the ban thingee ought to allow the banned person to join, get as far as the pits (in garage) and not let the controls work. and then spam the banned persons chat with spam about being banned...
Like "you could put the car in gear - If you wasn't banned!" and then maybe a message like, " hey it could be a glitch, try again in 5 months"

Seriously, I was just kind of curious about that end of things (hope to never find out the hard way)

IIRC it just displays a message box "Cannot connect to host: You are banned" when you try to connect to the server... not sure though, it's been forever since I got banned
dunno i got banned from 2 dorks who didn't want me to be on their server.. open for like 20 people or whatever, and they decided to ban me before i even got to see the track

anyways, it just says "cannot connect to host"
Quote :cannot connect to host

nah.
it says "server refused connection"

"Host refused connection" <-- when you're banned. I get this when I try to connect to Redline Racing 3
or that

lol i've had different cases

its not very informative either way

@sam
if it showed ban time for redline racing for me.. it would say "fat chance, you're never comming here ever (even though you never came)"

what it should say is "You are banned from this server: (reason)"
so.. thats why this improvement suggestion needs to get a move on! http://www.lfsforum.net/showthread.php?t=21929

I'd get exactly the same message, funnily enough. Tis fine tho, I'm not begrudging

I do like the idea of being able to add a "why" note to bans. Either a configuration line, like "/[email protected]" or being able to type "/ban bob smith 999 learn to drive an FXR for goodness sake"

Same for me. The only time I have ever been banned. 2 dorks on a public server wanting to keep it for themselves. I believe it was quite a ways back in the beginnings of S2.
a while ago i decided to drive the good old XFG/BL combo and went into demo mode.
had the same exact thing happen to me.

Eeek, I remember doing that with a friend before your time, in S1 Demo... I've since gotten more mature (which some may debate... ). Some of the things that people do when they lack a server of their own..
lol Gee whiz! i wasn't wanting a bunch a ppl talking about being banned,
I was just wondering what it was like
And No Sam, I don't want you banning me just so i'd know either......

But in what y'all posted, the banning seems to be real... minimal. no bells or whistles.
Maybe that's for the best as alot of ppl getting banned seem to do it on purpose. like suicide by cop or something.
@Sam again, I think you're right. if it was possible the reason for being banned should be displayed as well.

To be honest, I was always paranoid that one of my kids would get me banned from servers and I'd never know it. I know my son has been kicked from demo servers just because he said he had a S-2 license (heard him going off about that from across the house...).
