Anyone know a good American PC dealer that sells em cheap?
Hi,

I am looking for a Computer dealership thats hopfully in the US (Oversea's shipping is harsh) and isn't gonna be expensive.

Im looking for a good PC to play LFS on and im not sure how much it would cost.

Could someone give me like a quote on some prices for some so i can know what to expect?

Thanks,

Grunt.

newegg.com are THE US PC retailer (well, for parts at least) - overseas shipping is pointless as the US is THE place where everything (PC's at least) is cheapest
K but I don't really trust Newegg.com.

Father had troubles getting stuff shipped in the past (ended up losing the PC he ordered and the cash (they wouldnt refund it!)).

Fine, but from what i've heard its a great place, and from my experience the cheapest - the overclocking forum im a member off, every american member seems to get their stuff from there.

Did you actually contact them?
get a dell

cheap, and exttttreeemely reliable

Dell bundle good CPU's and crappy GFX cards, making them rather silly for gaming (seeing as a cheaper CPU and a quicker GFX card would give better performance for the same price)
Oem pcs aren't that bad but has 2 quirks:

1.)Crippled bios meaning no overclocking
2.) LOADED WITH junkware

i had to buy a separate xp mce 2005 to replace the one hp had it in on my m7160n

I upgraded a lot includig a new cpu GFX and extra 1 gig of mem and another 250Gb HDD

see thats what they want you to do is load up on all the goodies when what you should do, is get a good CPU, get a shotty graphics card and other crap you dont want, then go out and buy a new graphics card for... probably half the price dell would sell it to you for

plus.. when the whole family is in on this, who can't say no to a computer you know will work, rather than try and make your own and probably land up screwing it up and wasting alot of money

i see your point - in my opinion i will always build em because i've never screwed up a PC, i've only ever broken one compenent, and that was a cheapo PSU (Ulta 550w ) that killed a mobo on its way out - however building is still a little advanced
I always thought Dell made it so you had to purchase parts from them, reworking them or something... Not exactly sure why I thought this, maybe it's a different company...

Building your own computer isn't all that difficult. I don't even think you could plug anything in wrong so it's basically a 3D jigsaw
Yeah well I mean it can be a build it yourself PC becuase my father is a master at it. Plus we can always upgrade certain parts (IEell has horrible graphics but great processors so we just get one and buy a better graphics card).

Im just planning for the future anyway not really buying something soon.

Also we tried contacting Newegg and now they are saying we never made a transaction with them

Owell it wasn't an expensive computer anyway (like under $500).

IMO dell is too expensive, this may be where i live in canada, but i saw a dell that offered a 7600gt in the bundle, it was a little pricy, but not too bad. If you wanted to upgrade to the 7800gt, you had to pay 400 dollars. At the time, thats what they sold for, seems reasonable, until you remember you have already paid for the 7600gt in the cost of the bundle, now have to pay for a second video card, and dont get your money back or keep the 7600gt. Sneaky in my opinion. I will never buy something from them, NCIX.com for canada! i bought my pc there in peices, and was very cheap even with shipping!

Here is a list of things I have gotten from newegg.com, undamaged, with no customer service problems at all:
Raedon 9600XT
Raedon X1600PRO
WinPVR Video capture card
WD 250GB SATAII Hard drive
Logitech Driving Force Pro
SHARP Microwave Oven
DVD/VCR Player

Here is a list of things I have gotten from newegg.com that were damaged during shipping:

You might be a victim of phishing. Now, Tiger Direct on the other hand IS a rip off.
Never had any problems with newegg and I've made around 25 orders from there..

wheel4hummer is right though, tigerdirect is rediculous.. I bought my motherboard from there (newegg didn't have any boards i wanted) and they charged me 16 dollars to ship a freakin motherboard!!
NCIX is a great place to buy from, have bought many things from them with no issues. I know they do have a USA store, but I don't know how good that is, the Canadia side is awesome though.
