The online racing simulator
I didn't read all the post through, but anyway Scawen said in the test patch thread for W that he increased the volume of the tyre scrubbing because it compensates for the lack of forces you would feel through other parts of your body than the wheel. Sim driving is all about compromises really, this is just one of them.
Quote from Glenn67 :I personally get tired of hearing using tyre sounds is cheating, using wheel view is cheating, using 270 deg wheel is cheating etc etc

The way simmers talk about 'reality' is almost quaint in its naivety. The idea that there is a right and true way to represent reality is overwhelmingly dominant, and frankly I find it infantile.

The perfect simulation would be indistinguishable from the 'real', but such perfection is (within current technological abilities) nothing more than utopian fantasy. Representation requires compromise and fudging; it requires improvisation and, ffs, it requires creativity.

LFS is a fiction that attempts to get close to the real, but its a fact of being a fiction that it will never be real.

exactly what I'm trying to say

Creating a simulation is representing reality in a different medium, much like a painter interprets what he see's and marks a canvas. So just as a painter doesn't create reality but an image of reality, a sim creates the illusion of reality in the mid of the user.

Some interpret this to mean highly accurate real to life graphics and sound others like myself believe that physics and cues that indicate physics behaviour (like louder tyre scrub sounds which give clues to what the car is doing in place of g-forces felt through the seat of your pants) is what creates the illusion of reality in a sim
