Log of improvement suggestions heeded and implemented
This would be much shorter and more useful than a list of global improvement suggestions. It would serve as a record of what kinds of suggestions the devs have actually found useful or merely agreed with but used. Hopefully this would cut down on some of the vain ambition spoken of in garph's thread.

Vain ambition? What do you mean?

Quote from Gunn :Vain ambition? What do you mean?

Vain: ineffectual or unsuccessful; futile: a vain effort.
Ambition: to seek after earnestly; aspire to.
#4 - Gunn
Vain:
excessively proud of or concerned about one's own appearance, qualities, achievements, etc.; conceited

Ambition:
an earnest desire for some type of achievement or distinction

In relation to your intentional meaning; assuming for the moment that it is even present, how will your suggestion "cut down on some of the vain ambition"? We already have a log of suggested improvements but it doesn't get read obviously. How will your log improve matters?

Gee. I'm guilty of using an idiom.

My target audience was the English-familiar type.

Maybe you can understand it better in this example: Any attempt of mine to feed your trolling is a vain ambition.

I have no trouble understanding that your words could have been taken different ways. Now you are all defensive. Why? Instead of throwing dictionary definitions around you have could just put your words into context. Is it too much for somone to ask you to elaborate on your comments?

You have a reply in the relevant [garph] thread (read: your context). You still don't know what I'm getting at? I'm sorry, I thought you were joking.

I will elaborate: no one is going to read through a list of everything that has been suggested before including the good, the bad and the downright ugly suggestions.

The list I am suggesting would probably be somewhere between ten and fifty items in length if up-to-date. This would give any viewer a good idea of the kinds of suggestions the devs actually found useful. I for one would be a lot more curious to read such a list than a list of wild and crazy plebeian dreams.

Unfortunately, to bring such a list up to date would take a while when done from memory. Notwithstanding, anyone who has made a suggestion to later find it implemented has probably not forgotten it.

The philosophy: The higher the number of items the list contains, the more likely it would be, statistically speaking (and in the mind of the poster), that the more common suggestions we see in this forum would be implemented. My hope (I thought obviously) was that anyone who saw the list comprised of a whopping seven-or-so useful suggestions would be thoroughly discouraged from making his "typical, annoying suggestion."

Is that so hard to understand? No? Then is it still hard to understand why I thought you were trolling?

The idea behind the list is that those with reading abilities can search the list for their own suggestion and see if it has been suggested already. There is usually a link where people can post their ideas if they have something new to say about the (old) suggestion...

After all it is just a log. And because I try to keep it up to date with adding all the improvement suggestions I can find to the list so it should include lots of small improvements too. I see it useful read to out developers as well because they see the improvements that have been made in past month with one look through the list and can decide if they like it or not. The benefit is that suggestions that are small, simple and easily implemented get seen by the devs.

I make some small adjusting to the list every once in a while but if you have an improvement suggestion, please tell me so can look into it

TBH I hadn't looked at that thread in ages. Maybe the 300+ replies scared me off. Though now I can see that you are really doing a good job with it, and keeping it up to date, so keep up the good work.

Perhaps it was my fault for not looking in there before posting this thread. The irony.
