Should be getting it on Saturday

Having watched the movies etc when out on the roads it, ironically, reminds me most of the original NFS game ... that was great fun, weaving through traffic trying to shake the police and stay ahead of the AI driver I wonder where my NFS 1 disc went

Quote from atledreier :I think it's awesome. I've spent WAY too much time with it already. My wife will testify. I just love cruising and exploring the huge island and beautiful scenery. Or just watch it go by in a blur. It's all I've wanted from a driving game. I'm actually glad it doesn't have LFS physics, cause that would make it too serious. Some of the races are pretty awesome too, even offline. The first 'around the island' race in the supercars was intense. I was a little slow and used 49 minutes on that one, in the koenigsegg. Averaged 232km/h over 49 minutes.. Even on good roads that took a lot of concentration. much of the race was spent well in excess of 320km/h. I had to wind down with a leizurely cruise in my caterham after that, I was all pumped up!

I did won that race with Chrysler 300C, opponents had MC12 etc. supercars, I crashed a lot, realistic?
i think its a nice game but it needs a good few decent patches before i will play it much.. the online part of it is simply horrible right now (for me anyway..)
I would like to try the Hardcore mode but afaik its not available till later in game. is there any way around? Cheat maybe? I would like to have HC from the beginning.
There are savegames floating around on the web that give you a 'player' that has completed most of the game, including hardcore mode being unlocked.

Hardcore mode definitely makes the cars grip levels drop. But it is VERY VERY obvious that they've fallen into the trap of unrealistic grip dropoff.. Sideways sliding and/or wheelspin reduces tyre grip to ice levels.

But then.. an 'arcade' game with a realistic mode that is 'too hard' is somewhat rare..
Quote from danowat :Wish I could get the friggin bikes, but I have to do some lame thing like visit every car garage or something

Don't bother, really not worth it

I would like the game much more if it had some slower cars, and I mean really slower - top speed 190kmph or so, 150bhp,1.4ton - just like normal cars. Otherwise I find myself going waaay faster than I'd want to while cruising.
Normally I'd agree but TDU is all about exotics- and good luck weaving through traffic or even overtaking in a virtual Smart car
Got it, and mostly it does feel just like the original NFS to drive, especially when you crash No technical troubles, I'm playing on low detail 800x600 and getting about 30fps ... and no on-line lag (yay for cable internet ).

I think it would be nice to have some slower cars, or be able to run around in the AI's cars - would be a laugh to drive a fire truck about!
The Maserati 3500GT (or whatever) is slow enough for me anyway
