I Think the outdoors should be skinned too... like the cars, and the skin be set up by the admin of the server and could only be changed by him.

Yopu know, to maintain a good server online 20/7, isn't free... it costs money, and there are some servers that should have more twins ( like Caribbean Cruise for example ). So whith this improvement, the guy from the server could go after sponsorship ( real ones ) and make outdoors with it. So he could have more servers without wasting money.

So we can spend time downloading tons of dds files before being able to race? No thanks. And how would those skins have to be distributed? Who's going to pay for the bandwith needed for that? I wouldn't like LFS to turn into some sort of ad-ware.
Besides, a couple of servers less wouldn't be a disaster. There are way more servers than needed for the amount of players.

There are enough servers already (most of them are just empty). No one likes looking at ads and even less people like to spend bandwidth on downloading them. I don't think that there are that many people would like to sponsor LFS servers and if they do the ads can be placed on the teams/leagues/servers homepage.

-1. Anyone who would pay for an add on a server in LFS would probably rather get their logo into LFS for free (see ATL, Intel, Credit Suisse, Michelin, Castrol). Why would they pay when they can get free advertising, from the devs, which every player sees?

plus now we have the ability for servers to advertise when we join the server, and that is good enough
