Logitech's Standard Response: Did you check the game settings?

My Reply: Yea - I know it's a hardware problem cause it works if I hold the shifter a certain way.

Logitech's Answer: Glad to have resolved the problem!

WTF?! lol... guess I'll have to try again.

LOLOLOL wow..... Give them a call and tell them your problem. Last time I had to call for one of my clients about a speaker system they had they sent us a whole new speaker system better then he had.

I love logitech! Great support last time i used them.
I don't know if its been mentioned before, but I beleive I know what causes the shifter issues.

Ive had my G25 since it first came out in Australia, and I was happy to get it as most of you were. Two weeks into using it, I was having issues with my shifter not selecting gears properly. For example, I would be shifting from 3rd to 4th and it would go into 2nd instead of 4th, or going from 3rd to second would go from 3rd to 4th, etc.

One week later, I was shifting when suddenly I only had 5th and 6th gear, no matter what position the shifter laid in (ie even reverse read as 6th). Since where I lived, there were not many g25's going around at the time, I decided to bite the bullet and try to fix the problem myself. I proceeded to take the shifter boot/cover off and discovered something shocking.....

As most know, the shifter uses a co-ordinate style key mapping system controlled by pots. These pots have a small plastic connector which 3 wires are connected to using a crimping system. What had happened is that during the crimp process, the wire had been squashed soo much that it has broken off from the plug. I stripped the wire back and made a temporary connection to the pin, and the shifter worked as normal.

I then removed the pin and carefully soldered the wire onto it, put it all back together again and continued to enjoy the g25 for what it is. Ive been using it for many months now, day in and day out without a single issue.

This could be what is happening to your shifters. Take appart the shifter at your own risk, your warranty may be void. I suggest only removing the shifter dust cover/boot and inspect for any loose wires before proceeding to take the shifter completely appart... IT MAY NOT WORK FOR YOU.
I'm also getting some shift problems, especially with the sequential mode and upshifting (pulling the stick towards you). Sometimes it upshifts twice.
I'm trying to use the stick more carefully but I was wondering if someone knew a better remedy to this.
the only problem i have in sequentiel is when im "pulling the stick towards me" that it sometimes doesnt work...or presses it twice :S

i have that button as my pitlimiter btw. and it realy annoys me kinda :S
huh?
It owns...me!
Got mine today! Couldn't figure out where to have more steering angle than my old momo, and thanks to this fine forum and the almighty search button, I found it! Wihii! Put the wheel in 720 mode and went (literally) for a quick spin in the XRT. Felt the rear slide out a bit, tried to correct but I couldn't and it was out of control. Haven't giggled that much in ages, couldn't stop laughing for myself. I suppose it takes some time to get used to it..oh crap, and I have a 20 lap race around FE4R (worth it's name) in UFR this weekend

Will be abit harder to spin that out rather then an XRT - Good luck.

My 7month old Logitech Formula Force EX broke this week, going to hopefully send it back and get a new one as replacement.
While I am waiting, I think I might make a dive and buy a G25, then sell the replacement FF EX! Cant wait, G25 looks sooooo cool
Well, after being on holiday overseas for a month (and knowing as soon as I get back I can pick up my g25 from layby!) I have finally got it, and I have to say, it's great! certainly makes a huge difference in realism coming from a black momo. I've only had it 3 days and I've played lfs so much my shoulders hurt! It's taken quite a few hours to get used to 900 (or rather 720) degrees, but the clutch was no problem as i drive a manual every day.. in summary - awesome!
YESSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!! I FINALY GOT MY G25 WHEEL!!!!! WHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO, now i only need to buy a S2 license thingie ( damn what a shitty word ) and the party can begin
Gunna ring logi up tomorrow, i think the spring on my Shifter is slowly wearing, as when you push down into reverse, it puts in in R when i feels like it..
Awww...seems that the reverse doesn't work anymore, have two 6th gears. But I have barely even used the reverse, is it a common problem? I see one mention on this page at least
gear noise
Hi !

Anyone have a good solution to disable the H shifters clicking noise?

Few weeks ago I disassembled it, to repair the reverse gear problem, and I saw how it works If I take out the ball and the spring it dont stays in neutral, 2nd and 4th gear.

Pls, help. This noise makes me mad
David, may I suggest TNT or a hacksaw?

The ball detent holds the gimbal (shifter) in all gears as well as neutral. As you found if you remove it it will not stay in gear. The clicking sound was "designed in" to produce an audible response for gear shifts.

The click is caused by the diameter of the spring/ball hole in the gimbal being larger in diameter than it needs to be just to align the ball. A 4 mm deep X 6.30 mm dia counter hole allows the ball to "click" againist the side of the gimbal hole when the ball snaps into the metal hole in the latch plate. If a 4 mm long "shim cylinder" with a ID of 5.9 mm and a OD of 6.3 mm (wall thickness 0.20) were pressed into the gimbal spring hole it would greatly decrease the volume of the click. If it causes you so much discomfort it might be worth a try. (shim stock wrapped in a cylinder might work, just make sure that the ball can move in and out freely and that you do not press it in more than 4 mm. Also, make sure that it cannot come free and jam the shifter gimbal)

I think I solved the problem. Not the perfect way, but works
replaced the spring with a piece of plastic, so the ball dont have damper. The palstic thing is a little bit shorter, so the ball dont hang out too much, but still enough to keep in gear. And of course a litte bit of oil helped near the holes

The shifter uses normal potentiometers (as the well known MOMO's pedals too) so, I think the problem is with these. Try some WD40 It always helps
My G25 is still working fairly good. No problem to adapt as i drive a manual shift car. The only problem/bug i get is the sequencial mode on the shifter. when upshifting (pulling the knob towards me) if i accidently make some force down the knob desingages from that kind on rail that locks its movement from the sides. So it engages 4th gear. I don´t really bother since i only drive manual, for most cars, and paddle shifters on the wheel itself for the F1 FV8 and the other formula type ones.
I have had my G25 since Christmas day and can honestly say I have had NO problems with it thus far. This thing is a real dream as long as you don't get one of the defective ones. I imagine it really sucks to get a bad one but with so many moving parts something is bound to happen. If you can get a good wheel and shifter, try! My shifter has given me no problems whatsoever and I am so glad for it. The only complaint I have with it is the mushy FF in the center 10 degrees or so in LFS(only in LFS it seems.) Hopefully someone will find a fix for it someday but until then I will stick with the G25 as that one little problem doesn't really bother me. It's a well built wheel with the only weak point being the shifter construction(not so weak.) I abuse this thing daily and it feels the same as it did when I pulled it out of the box and went through the gears on my sofa.
my g25 sometimes when i start up my computer it will spin round do what it does. but sometimes wont stop in centre. why does it do this and is there are way to fix this?

anyone else have the same issue?

cheers
Just let it continue, it's doing its power on calibration, and if you interupt it, it gets flaccid with rage (and you get no wheel inputs unless you plug it in elsewhere allowing it to calibrate there or you restart)

i let it finish, i dont inturupt, but it still doesnt stop in the centre. ????

if i unplug it, then re plug it in when pc is on, then it does it fine, its when i start up the pc.
During startup, that would probably be the BIOS first doing its magic, then windows XP trys to load it also again, and the XP doesn't do it pretty good, it continues a couple times. I know that powering on my iMac atleast, EFI detects it, then when I select OSX or XP, it recalibrates again.

i was thinking something to do with the BOIS. boot order?

anyway to stop this from happening so it only does it once, and properly?

thanks guys
Just ordered my G25.

 :eclipsee_
Quote from Spankey :hey guys. Thinking about buying the game. Im running on the demo now and I have that racing wheel.

Problem is : How do you configure the pedals? I cant set them up in the controls. They are fine with other games, but this one doesnt want to.
Unless you guys can give me directions. Would be much apreciated. thanks.

Try going to Options > Controls

Then select Wheel/JS from the the top menu.

From there make sure Throttle/Brake axis is set to "separate" and not "combined"

If you start pushing pedals, the little axis bars on the bottom right of the screen will start moving, which should tell you what pedal is on what axis. Then just assign throttle/brake/clutch to the proper axis.

Good luck.
G25 ordered now! im soooo happy i will probably get it on wendsday, hopefully tuesday!
