The more logical place for me is the driver option. Changing driver side from race to race is pretty unrealistic if you think you would drive your own car every race.

But you could have an LHD car and a RHD car It's also unrealistic to adjust gear ratios or adjust your suspension in 2 seconds
It's unrealistic to have both a LHD and a RHD car. Look at all the modern day race cars; they don't have two versions with different driver side so they can sit on the inside for each track they visit.
