Is it possible to make a white mark on the bf1 tyres?
Just like the soft tyres in f1.
hmm.. well, if you had a program to edit DDS files, im sure you could yourself... lemme get a try =) im bored, got nothing to do...

just... gimme a little bit...

I don't think it's possible. The .dds file for the tyres is more of a bumpmap, the coloring of the tyres as you see them in-game are vertex colored.
there tyre tread dds is for the treads only not colour. and theres another for the colour aka the rubber colour but if you edit it all tyres would have the same mark i think?
I have tryed to do this already but since the tyre color in the dds file are white and if you try to put a white line in one of the groves lfs will just make it black for some reason.

That's because it's a bumpmap. A bumpmap creates the illusion of depth on a surface. the white parts are the normal "height" of the surface, the black parts indicate which parts should appear to be of lower height. This is then processed by for instance a game to fake depth. So it has nothing to do with colouring the tyre.

And there's no other file that controls the rubber colur, like I said it's vertex colored.

its not really a bump map in that case, more like an alpha map.
i think you could add the white line by editing the alpha channel of the texture
Thanx everyone!

Well i think i just have to wait and see if someone figures it out
im sure theres a way to get this.

Theres ALWAYS a way to get something to work, otherwise, how did they get it to the way it was?

I'll look into it.. when i have more time and a computer that actually runs my programs correctly =/

edit: of course im not saying i KNOW theres a way, i mean, there probably is.. just... it might be a way that is harder than its worth XD
The closest i've managed to get is a pale blue line and it's the same for all compounds, but do not despair as before the season Bridgestone's original suggestion was a red tyre wall, but the FIA did not respond in time about the whole hard/soft tyre compound concept and so Bridgestone were not able to put the production facilities in place.

I think the plan is still to use a red tyre wall, but they wont be appearing until later in the season.

What joen described is exactly how a bump map works. An alpha map would make parts of the tire invisible(by altering the alpha value).

The story I heard was that Bernie got word that the americans use red tires for softs, and then didn't allows bridgestone to do the same thing in f1. Instead we got the dot.

I hope they stay with stripes as the red sidewalls would not be as visible.

i doubt that the tire will become invisible.
however i cant try, since the dear vidows vista hates photoshop.
its not a bump map nor an alpha map, its a simple texture and then the tires themselves are vertex painted a dark grey
