How did you come out? (LFS)
I was talking to my 'love interest' and got onto why i wasn't around last saturday night (bott race) so i had said i was playing lfs. She asked about it and got onto that lfs record your stats on lfs w so she asked and when i said how many miles i had done, races won etc she decided i was very strange lol (still talk so all good )
I havent got round to the fact that i have spent in total over £200 on lfs

So how did you come out to friends/loved ones that your a sim racer? (or sim addict) The funnier the better.

Before anyone says - yes useless spam but there could be some good stories.
Well.. we in my room.. uhm... yea... and afterwards she happened to notice my G25, which I leave attatched to the desk. She wanted to have a try and did quite well for a beginner.
My parents were always bitching how a "19 year ol' " can play such a kiddy-game. Than I let them take a round (in XFR ).... My mum almost killed my wheel and like ripped it from my desk Now they know it's not that easy

And on the other hand, much talking in Germany about these direful "Killer-games" like Doom, CS and... Final Fantasy *cough*.... Now my parents can tell that I play something "peaceful"

And about my friends..LFS is not as freaky as jumping through the forest armed with softairs
Whats wrong with playing Airsoft? Looks fun (although, I won't try it because the guns are all copies of real ones. Lots of people get shot by the cops in North America when police think they are carrying a real gun which happens to be a replica) I'll stick with paintball
I live with my girlfriend so there's no hiding anything. She had a go with the UF1 around SO Long the other day with the excuse of trying out my new monitor, but she's still crap at LFS.

Edit: She also watches the GPs on telly with me. Not so interested in the bikes or rally or anything (although her cousin has one the BRC a couple of times) but she likes her F1.

Eh, most people say "whatever" if I tell them I play a racing game... it's pretty much a given to everybody I know that I'm interested in these types of games since I'm an autocrosser and track junkie.

When you walk into my home you see a few autocross trophies with checkered flags on them, so when you look over and see the steering wheel in front of my computer it shouldn't be any big surprise.
Ehm... Recently, I've met a new girl. A nice one actually. So, we had been dating for a while, and I finally invited her to my place. The first thing she saw, was the G25 at the desk - and my racing seat next to the table.

I could feel the panic in her head just waiting to burst, so I decided to tell her about it, and how good simracing is for the real life driving skills. She finally came to the conclusion that I am a cute geek, and she can almost accept the fact that I won't be with her this Saturday because I've got an IGTC-race to do

...I had an ex-girlfriend who became obsessed with Forza Motorsports on my Xbox... Until I beat her in 10/10 races with whatever car/track she wanted to drive. Then she asked me to take my bloody piece of baby toy with me home
Most reactions I get are something like: never heard of that, you ever played NFS Carbon?
My ex just laughed .. for a pretty long time :|
Mrs B has known all along that I am a games freak, so LFS was no surprise to her.
What DID come as a shock was when our daughter (EmmyLou) decided that SHE was going to get hooked as well...

It came to a head a few weeks ago during a Friday night Team Session..Emmy and I were in our respective rooms, each on our own PC's, and having a whale of a time..(as you do!)

Out of the blue, Mrs B uttered those immortal words..."I've had enough of this..I haven't got one kid in the house, I've got two, and if that LFS doesn't go, then I will!!!"

My reply?

"Let us just finish this race and I'll get your suitcase down from the attic then!"

She responded with a slammed bedroom door and the dreaded 'silent treatment'! (married men will understand THAT part! )

Thats worthy of some sort of award, surely?!
@ Bladerunner.
You sir should be given a medal for pure comedy genius

My lover first found out as I clicked on the lfs.exe icon and his processor zazooomed into life to digest a high speed flow of inbound data. In fact, it was my darling PC that told ME I was addicted by having a minor component failure (in the form of a monitor cable) from the stress of my sim gaming after i'd neglected him for too long.

My PC still gets a little hot under the collar from time to time, we still spend time together most evenings, but I dont really do the mistress thing any more as i've gone off coding games and telling him what to do.

Dude, if I told my lass I was in something called a "bott race" she'd look at me like this: and then start searching my HDD for man-pr0n ...

And by the way it was very difficult telling my Grand Prix Legends install about LFS. After a few jealous fits & crash/reboots it all worked out in the end and we decided to have a new-fangled open relationship. After all, she was fine about my fling with rFactor (she knew it meant nothing) and she knows my interest in nK is more nerdy than passionate. I've even experimented and bought a couple of flight sims and a joystick recently.

Although, I haven't had the guts to tell her about iRacing yet ...
Well not amusing and long story: everyone that enters my room - see my dfp and me glued to the screen - just gave me that well known look so i know i'm a moron to them... nothing special..no social life since lfs here.

and if any of them try to talk they usually ask why i don't play nfs....then i can give them the same kind of look...
If Racing games come up in conversation, I tell them about lfs. I dont play too often, so thats not a problem.
My dad and brother are petrol heads, so they like it, although they are crap, and my mum is happy that I never went out and did crack, but played games as a kid.lol.
My mates all know Im a gamer anyway, cause when I was younger, I would kick all there ass' no matter what agme it was. pissed my neighbour off a treat when i killed him at the first colin Mcrea(SP) a week after he had been playing it non stop, on my first go.

and how come we didn't hear about it on the server? or was this when I was away (I always miss the good things when I'm not around!).

well, my girlfriend always knew I played games on the computer, and enjoy doing it, she's never really stopped me at all. Infact I can just say to her on MSN, "I'm going on LFS for an hour or 2 if that's ok with you" and she doesn't mind at all. When I get back to talk to her she seems interested in how I did, and even wants to have a go when she comes back to the UK this summer.
Classic Bladey, classic!
I came out of the closet when I was 17.

And I fell down
My 'current one' shows little interest in it. I don't really talk about it. Hasn't had a go yet though. Give it time...
