3D Desktop for XP
i use beryl on my linux OS and this doesnt even come near that.
Ok, I didn´t mean it is as good as beryl. But what´s the main difference?
Beryl works, this doesn't.
The problem is that to make the necessary changes for it to work properly you basically have to be Microsoft. When you're dealing with open Source you can do whatever the heck you wan't with it, as long as you share it openly.
Why doesn´t it work? I have now 4 desktops which I can change very fast, there haven´t been any crashes yet. For me it works perfectly. I don´t need 3D Windows, because this is mere eye candy.
Well, for most people it has a tendency to be buggy. my cube has 1 "painted" side and the rest grey.
Have you tried to set a desktop background for every site of the cube? You will have to do it only once.

You can see it in my video that it´s working.
hmm actually i am surprised how well this works, considering its for xp..

will test a bit more, thx for posting
beryl is true 3d desktop, this is just 4 virtual desktops wraped around a cube, i can understand that you like it and the eye candy, but you cannot see how badly this is done until you have tried the real thing, vista's aero thingy doesnt even come near beryl, this is cool yeah but its a ripped off idea from an open source program and its not that well executed. i can understand people wanting to have these things in windows but how about you try the real thing? you can try it on a livecd with no install required, nowadays i only use windows for lfs and cod2, they both work with wine but we all know its not the same thing.

could someonr tell me mem usage and vm size when running please?
Well why don't you try it, it doesn't require an install. Just run the exe from the folder where you extracted it.

but anyway at the moment it's using up 19,624k of my system
I have a knoppix live cd, but though I installed the nvida driver, Beryl doesn´t work.

When I go back to XP, I have to reboot 5 times until windows loads.

I know it´s a fake, but unitl now I am not convinced of linux. I don´t need it for internet and games. And installing the drivers via command line is really out of date, even if you get more control. I can remember the old DOS days and I am glad these times are over.
all you really need is notepad and cmd.exe
