MS Sidewinder pedals seperate axis?
I've just set up Win Server 2003 as a testbed on my system, for a laugh I checked out the game controllers interface, and it has the pedals for my MS Sidewinder as seperate axis! I've never found out how to do this in WinXP, does anyone know how I can do this in XP, or how to back-port the driver?

On a slightly un-related note, Win Server 2003 is a very nice workstation platform..a tad faster in every way than WinXP, although took a bit of work to get my DFP working correctly oddly enough Performance in LFS seems to be a bit more consistant.
You should be able to do it just as long as you install the correct drivers, then the option becomes visible. And, choose seperate axis' in LFS too
I've never been able to find some Sidewinder drivers that work with XP to give me that option. Going to try and find out what files are used and see if I can load the driver in XP later.

Sidewinder 4.0 drivers were posted on this thread. there are also some registry fixes that i posted which migh help too.
I thought the drivers work fine if you install them using the "98 compatibility mode". I have he non-FF MS wheel and it works fine without any reg mods

i have the USB FF one and the 4.0 drivers work fine for me too
the reg fix was something i used before with partially installed 3.0x drivers.
I use the drivers off the CD. I just ignore the "warning" which just says "If a none admin user wants to use the drivers, they can't", and they work fine:

The problem is the DRIVER....
"The Microsoft range of wheels is by no means new, but it is still among the cream of the crop. The non-force Precision Wheel is now available for the attractive price of $65. But whatever you do, don't install its SideWinder 4.0 software in XP. Depending on the configuration, it either works or makes the whole system crash. And this is Microsoft... I really did see the comical side of the situation when I unpacked the brand new wheel with a CD proudly marked, "Designed for Windows 98"! It would be good to see a downloadable update in the near future, all the more so because the software programs that come with the paddles are not mutually compatible! It's high time for Microsoft to provide a common XP driver for all its USB SideWinder peripherals. That said, without a driver, the Precision Wheel works in XP on one axis." (Tom's Hardware Site)
