I wouldn't recommend doing that personally. Ideally, you want to clean the box, remove _all_ previous restore points and then set a new one once all is cleaned up.

Viruses / trojans / spyware etc "recently" have been using the system restore as another method of reinfection, plus it's unlikely Nathan knows _exactly_ when he got the first infection, so hard to know what maybe a clean restore point or a dirty one.

Agree with Ian. I always turn off system restore and then empty the prefetch cache before scanning.

Did you check whether the virus didn't just change the default homepage in IE? If all else fails, make a log file with Hijackthis and post it here.

Ye its a legal copy, came with my pc so im pretty sure it is as i can update it and all that crap.

Ok, anyways, there is a trick to get all updates even with pirate windows.
When the popup comes, tick all updates execept one file: genuine microsoft software or something like that. IF you tick that too, you will have ALOT of problems :P

Im pretty sure you all knew that, but just to remember.
