More Cars For Dem Racers

You´re becoing my very good friend here on the forums, NOT!

I´ll give you another offtopic comment on this one at the very end of my post...

The demo needs improvement like the full version of the LFS game does.

The demo version is the starting point to later on buy the S2 full version. At least thats the basic idea of the game makers. Of course there have to be improvement suggestions from demo users as well - in order to get more S2 players at a later stage. A shitty demo version of a game kills every full version. IMO you are allowed to question theirishnoob´s starting post about adding a faster car but your statement of banning demo from this section doesnt witness of a lot of knowlegde.

Some peope simply can´t affort the full version because of their economical situation. A lot of them live in countrys which aren´t some new EU members..

Another point is that there are demo players which never ever go on to play the full version. Simply because they like the track/car combo, have made A LOT OF Demo friends and like more to get experts with 1 or 2 cars/ 1 or two tracks. My team now is 6 month old and I just ask them if they wanna go the S2 way. No, they just like it the way it is. And I fully respect and fully understand their decision as I have played the TOCA Race Driver 2 demo for years and still play the BF2 demo only - even I have the full version installed on my PC.

-----------

As a demo server owner I installed W9, later W10 as well in order to help LFS to make it a better game. So you dont think Demo Racers should post improvements suggestions as well as point test patch bugs out ??? hmm...

Let me come to an end:
How comes that people like IDIW, Rusty, Montabaur, NOS.PBU and Biohazard frequently join demo servers racing with demo players?
Cause we all ( the demo players ) are noobs with bad ideas only? Pls. give me a break here...

Your comments just strengthen the argument that the demo gives too much away already, and gives a good demonstration of LFS and therefore doesn't need changing.

As other Racing sims/games are improving as well --> including their demo version <-- it IMO would be a fatal fault not to listen to demo racers anymore towards impovements of the LFS demo.

LFS demo is already the best demo available, and for all of the right reasons. Why would a developer listen to calls for more free content from people who already love the free content enough to not buy the full version? For that matter, what makes you think that a demo racer knows something about LFS that the licensed community does not? The decision to add more free content or not does not need to be based on consultation with the people who are asking for the free content. Those people have a conflict of interest.
Look at it this way:

If you take a car out for a test drive, do you think the owner is going to let you keep it for a few days because you don't want to buy it yet? Do you think they'd add a new stereo, a more powerful engine or air conditioning for you when you've not given them any cash, just on the off-chance that you might buy it someday?

I think not.

[Edit: Post 1000! And it was a demo flame! Woo!]

Erm, and the LFS demo is not improving? It might not get more content, but it gets all the features (well, most of them) the full version is getting. Like improved physics and overhauled graphics etc. And: NO, the devs should not listen to demo racers if they're so-called "improvement suggestions" regard having more content. If they have bugs to report or ideas about overall gameplay or whatever, that's great, and I'm against banning demo players from the improvement suggestions forum. But what I really don't understand is, why it is so hard to understand that the demo offers rather too much than not enough. Just look at the number of demo players online. If I was a dev, I would think about making the demo less attractive, because from a marketing stand point it's a disaster. But, of course, not everybody has to understand that. It's just common sense after all.
lol@ spoglest. welcome to LFS. he's only been here a few days so i'll just

man... S2 is just great.
I think Spogolest has an issue with the idea that demo racers should be banned from this section and therefore not listened to. Can't blame him.

We get one of these "I want more cars in the demo" threads once in a blue moon, it's not as if every demo racer is demanding something extra for nothing.

For the record, I think the LFS demo IS too generous. I mean it's the same now as it was when there was no version to buy and the demo WAS Liveforspeed. But I also think that we are not the ones to decide or even be listened to on that matter. The developers have more knowledge of the numbers playing the demo and the numbers that buy a license than we do. If they think the demo is productive then it must be because the numbers make sense.

I'm sure they don't even have a real problem with people sticking to the demo. In the grand scheme of things it means there is something of a community, always racers online for newbies to join in with, and people telling others about the demo that might otherwise be simply not playing if the options at the end of a demo period are Pay or Quit.
Well, the whole point of a demo is getting people that actually play it for the first time like it enough to spend the money to buy the full version. The current problem is that some of them are just happy with what they have in the demo and don't buy S2. Probably most of these people would actually buy it if the demo was time limited, or much more content limited.

@ those who think the demo should include some of the exclusive S2 content: This is wrong, the thing you seek is not to let people use all the exclusive features, it's to make them dream of those features.
Demo should just stay as it is. Adding content would be nonsense, as would be removing content. The decision was made, and maybe the demo has too much content, but removing is not an option anymore.

Having an active demo community has its benefits too, because it is the entry level for soon-to-be S2 racers. With the current lack of real advertisement, the high demo activity helps at least somewhat on getting new potential customers in. Please keep that in mind the next time you suggest a online play time limiter or something similar that would effectively kill the online world of the demo.
FWIW, there are 2 things that eventually got me to get the S2 license: 1)the demo (and its unlimited play allowing me to decide that it's worth it) and 2) This forum (since it alerted me to STCC, which was my reason for getting S2)

So in my mind the demo is perfect as it is. (BTW, I had the demo off and on for over a year but only started seriously playing it 2 months ago)
Agreed, a demo is useless if there's nobody online to play it with.
there's no reason why demo users cant post comments / suggestions and theres no reason why they shouldn't use the demo to its fullest with leagues etc as the devs are obviously happy with the situation but at the same time maybe demo users should go and try the netkar demo and then think about how much more the LFS demo gives them before asking for more cars / tracks.

also licenced racers please remember demo drivers are possible future s3 owners and demo users please remember it is a demo and if you have issues about its content then you are free to use another games demo

not all of them are the "real" people fyi, also, they are all VERY quick at BLGP with the XFG (a pretty rare combo online in S2)
I´ve seen a few good posts in this thread since my last post and wanna thank these persons for their statements .

You too see the attached files and check on it. Sure it would be a very good idea to race a 1.33.00 or a 1.32.98 on BL1 pretending being another known person...OMG...

it seems that demoservers are the only place to race gt and gti.
are you for real? geez, we oughta cancel the demo outright. it's not a full-fledged game for christ's sake

You are right BTW. its like when you buy a cheap japanese car but think "hmm i shoudda got more for my money" But thats all you can afford to buy but instead they start whining. I mean seriously you guys have the 3 good cars and one good track STICK WITH IT OR BUY A LICENSE FOR GODS SAKE

EDIT: I should do what my avatar does "shoot all those who whines"

I dunno about that. There are some real fast drivers using the demo. Why they havent gotten their S1 or S2 isnt any of my business, but Im sure if they could, they would. But with the fast drivers, there a lot of crap guys out there too.

We need to keep demo racers around and keep their interest because when others move onto other sims or just stop racing, we need to fill those spots. In my opinion, LFS needs to look at demo racers the same way F1 looks towards karting for new upcoming drivers.
Quote from Biohazard :it seems that demoservers are the only place to race gt and gti.

And what about STCC1a server? It's full almost all the time
that´s the point.
it is the only server you can race these small cars on - and it´s full all the time. :/

(plus it´s only s1)
Quote from Biohazard :(plus it´s only s1)

Which is a problem how? There are few S2 tracks that are suited to those cars anyway.
depends on personal likings. i for one quite enjoy the gt on those longer tracks.
Quote from Biohazard :depends on personal likings. i for one quite enjoy the gt on those longer tracks.

I agree. I'd like to run the GTi in STCC on the 2 shorter Aston tracks. Even Kyoto National perhaps.

Two more days until I can connect to STCC or any UK/Europe server, YAHOOOO!!!!!. Unfortunately, the kid has baseball practice on Wednesdays as well. Thus I'll probably be hooking everything all up, then finding something doesn't work and I'll be on the phone the rest of the evening after practice....
