Probably the only thing they could do in the end. It would've been impossible to keep up with the posts/jokes/spams/abuse about it. Thing is, digg gave loads more publicity to the issue by trying to shush it in the first place than it would've ever received if they'd just left it alone.

Who was it that once said "the tighter you squeeze, the more systems slip through your fingers..."? Oh, that's right - Princess Leia
Although I enjoy digg and the content created by people associated with it, the vast majority of users are incredibly childish and stupid.

This is just another case that shows the more you try and hide something the more people get to see it.

Just look at the Spy Catcher farce in the UK. The government ban the book but of course they can only do that in the UK. Best seller world wide.

Will be interesting watching this one play out as their is no way to shut this up now. The speed of raction and the way momentum can build on the web means it will be impossible.

The way I read this the anti DRM momentum has built to the point where lines have been drawn. It now means they have to revoke the key or give up on their DRM on HD-DVD. If they revoke the key they have to figure out how to replace/update all the X-Box HD drives out in the wild with a new key and also make it not hand over the key so easy.

That really made my day! I have hardly ever used Digg, and know nothing about its organisation, about how its run etc. But for someone to actually declare that they are prepared to sacrifice the orderly running of something that has obviously taken a lot of time, a lot of work... well, its put a dent in my growing carapace of cynicism.

Please don't tell me there's an ulterior motive...
well, just look, by allowing it, nobody is posting it, so Kevin won using reverse psychology... :P
