i have the following error :

LFS: Could not detect any suitable screen modes

My system runs on WinXP SP2 and a radeon 9600XT.

Anyone who can help me with a tip?

Hi, go to your LFS directory, open up cfg.txt and set start windowed to 1. Does it start up ok then? It should do. Then go in to the options and pick a suitable resolution, and go back to full screen if you wish.

At first, SEARCH.... This problem was posed here some time ago...

Are you sure you have correct drivers installed? LFS gives this error when there is no D3D graphic card installed in Windows. Try to run "dxdiag" (Start->Run->"dxdiag") and look at 'Display' tab. Maybe you could take a screenshot and post it here. Also check 'DirectX files' tab for any errors. And let us also know what DX version do you have.

(DirectX tabs will be probably named a little different - I posted an English transaltion according to mine Czech names)
