So of LFS's current carset, which should realistically require the use of a throttle cut to prevent engine damage? Surely at least the three formula cars normally flatshift?
The FOX I'm not sure about, but I'm willing to bet that F1 drivers and F3000 drivers don't lift off the throttle when tapping the 'up' paddle. The computer should do that for them, I'd imagine. That's how they get 50-millisecond shifts.. I think.
I don't think any cars should require throttle cut. Do you really want to make LFS more intrusive? A much better way of dealing with the issue is to model clutch heat--when you powershift or flatshift consistently, in road cars at least the clutch will heat up a lot and lose grip. Eventually if you continue flatshifting (like after 10-15 times consecutively) your clutch won't even be able to hold the torque your engine puts out and will start slipping whenever you go WOT.
Maybe for things like drifting servers you could have the option to turn it off.
Possible transmission damage would be another repellent, but IMO clutch heat would be the best idea.
Hm, theres nothing about cheating with flatshifting on races, and regular roadcars as far as i know, like the XRT on LFS, since its low powered and the clutch is not soo sharp as race car ones i think, but i dont recomend it on long races if you want your tranny to last, i also think its nearly useless if your engine doesnt have much turbo lag, or an old lazy engine that doesnt rev well but has lots of inertia, well you doesnt really need to full flatshifting in those cases, just holding the rpm while changing gears and step back on the gas the early as possible after change gear, like bit before dumping clutch, well wathever!
Ok, thanks for all answers, I have learned some things
So, which improvement have to be added to next LFS patches relative to flatshifting/powershifting? I would like to post in improvements7sugestion
